Re: Kansas City NHL Articles

After reading this article I'm convinced the Pens will leave Pitt. If they don't end up in KC they will end up somewhere other than Pitt. When your boyfriend won't answer your call after jerking him around for 7 years, it's over. http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06355/747843-336.stm Local officials fa...

Re: Kansas City NHL Articles

The Star article was updated with this quote.

[quote]NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, who has spent the last few months throwing his support behind the Isle of Capri proposal, blasted the decision.

“The decision by the Gaming Commission was terrible news for the Penguins, their fans and the NHL,â€

Re: Port Authority Hosting Public Meetings on Riverfront Jan 18 an 19

There used to be a riverboat cruise boat that docked in KCK (Fairfax?)and would do dinner cruises on the weekends. There were some small amusement park rides and such over there as well. I just can't remember the name.

Re: DOES KC HAVE IT???

3) I realize the job market in KC is actually very good, but at this stage I am looking to work for a very large advertising firm and KC doesn't have any.  Bernstein Rein is large, but I am trying for a firm with branches all over the place, because that allows me more flexibility to move around (...

For such a financial genius I'm surprised you confused a mint with a fed reserve bank. Face it, Denver and Omaha banks have to take orders from KC.

Well, in STL you are literally dropped off in the middle of a rail yard not STL Union Station. Although you can see Union Station in the distance I don't know how easy of a walk it is to the Metrolink stop there.

Re: Lawrence: 2nd Meanest City for Homeless

I lived in Lawrence for 4 years and never once saw a homeless person. We went to Lawrence this past Sunday and encountered one bum sleeping on a bench within minutes of parking the car and another an hour later panhandling. Irregardless we had a great Sunday afternoon window shopping and eating lun...

Re: Is it just me, or does KC have a very nice skyline?

My favorite view is from I-70 heading east from KCK. Downtown is so imposing sitting up on the bluff from that angle which is very unique. Are there any other cities with downtowns that sit up on bluff?

Re: Stretch selling all his Xroads properties?

really? you know that for a fact? i didn't know that he was wanting to sell. I don't think he really wants to sell but he did put up a for sale sign on his building at 19th & Locust and is asking way more than the building's worth. He's really just jerking the city's chain. He put out a RFP for...

Re: Stretch selling all his Xroads properties?

This is more of a case of Stretch just being Stretch than him wanting to sell. His asking price is quite inflated.

The plan is to connect Oklahoma City with Newton, KS via Wichita thereby connecting with the Southwest Chief route. Evidently one of the most popular routes cut in 1979 was the Texas Chief/Lone Star route which was Chi - KC - OKC - FW - Houston

Unbelievable. Is this a condo association decision or the developers decision? Either way, I'd explain to them the reason I live in the city and not JoCo is because I like the option of getting a drink across the street at 2 am. I'd show up at the hearing as well. What the city needs now is resident...

Just stumbled onto this column. It was after the Nextel series race in KCK. Interesting bit of outsider perception of KC as well. http://www.thatsracin.com/mld/thatsracin/sports/columnists/david_poole/12866935.htm Posted on Mon, Oct. 10, 2005 As a hall of fame suitor, Kansas City isn't without its c...

Yes, WalMart was my bread and butter. Here's something I never thought of until now, if it was not for WalMart there would be no BR as we know it today, hence no Safdie designed West Edge development. Who woulda thunk?

^ I agree with everything except how helpful the film office was for locals. I was once a local and most of my work came from referrals from other locals. Patty was very good and active. When I say KC has a good film office I mean that a lot of the streamlined processes that Patty put together to ge...

Re: Breaking News

Of course Jerry Agar on 980 thought this to be the biggest waste of money ever since it will never pay for itself. It got me thinking about the publicity it would give KC and how much is that worth. The last Superbowl sold 59 30 second spots for $2.4 million each, a total of about $140 million for 3...

Re: Blues for sale

I get the feeling that the arena lease Laurie signed has become a big ball and chain tangled up with the Blues. Unless the city is willing to renegogiate the lease it would be a better deal for a buyer to take the team out of the city.

Re: Studio brings movie magic to River Market

Kansas City has one of the better film commissions, here's the film commission link. http://www.kcfilm.com/ Film commissions can do very little to attract films other than act as sort of a chamber of commerce and serve as a clearing house for a films needs. Most of their work is filling requests for...
