Re: Historic Old Northeast

I think they are actually using statistics from the neighborhood to the southwest of Independence and Prospect. The population is quite small so the total amount of crime isn't the highest, but per capita, it looks bad.

Re: Downtown office vacancy

DST is adding 415 jobs:

I don't see a mention of where those jobs will be located, but I am assuming these will be going in existing DST buildings. That should help improve vacancy a bit.

Re: Troost developments

Milhaus/UC-B are seeking an abatement for the project at 27th and Troost (although the article doesn't seem to say how much): http://www.bizjournals.com/kansascity/news/2017/05/25/27-troost-milhaus-development-abatement-request.html 182 apartment units plus 12,000 sq ft retail. Trying to get a small...

Re: The Gallerie - 27th & Gillham Apartments and Condos

The two blocks to the south are both owned by Hallmark, but I believe the developers of this project have an option to buy it I really hope UCB/Milhaus exercise that option quickly. Hallmark owns all of the vacant lots around here - the parking lots to the west and northwest, the grass lots further...

Re: Westport Terrace at Manor Square

It looks like there are two spaces in addition to Char Bar on the first and second floors that could be retail or office:

Re: Westport Terrace at Manor Square

Here are some elevations from the most recent plan. The residential section from Pennsylvania: http://i66.tinypic.com/30nhg1e.jpg I have a feeling that is not exactly to scale. It seems like it should be taller in comparison to the Manor Square building. I think they did this on purpose to assuage t...

Re: Westport's fate post-P&L

Two more Westport related items appeared on the city's development tracker map today:

A proposed CID for a portion of Westport.

And, some info on the proposed Marriott Suites on the old XO site:

How do the new renderings vary from the original? Here is the original rendering: https://media.bizj.us/view/img/10367778/screen-shot-2017-03-06-at-40922-pm*750xx2100-1181-0-26.png Here is another one posted in a more recent article that appears pretty much identical: http://www.kansascity.com/news/...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

I noticed some construction fencing around a portion of the lot in front of Lulu's. Anyone know what's going on there? Is it related to the hotel going in across the street?

Re: Westport's fate post-P&L

Some of the changes I noticed: The plan is showing a hotel portion now. It looks like the hotel portion will be going between Mill St and the garage, with the garage entrance being moved. I don't see a number of rooms and apartment units. The height is down to 7 stories from Pennsylvania and 9 stori...

I don't know if the Central Library has an after hours book drop, but you can return the book to any library branch, and those should have book drops.

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

Atlanta's new stadium will be artificial turf, so that will likely eliminate them, but I agree, that Phoenix will probably host.

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

I seriously doubt they would make the necessary modifications to Arrowhead just to host one or two World Cup games. The only way I see it happening is if those necessary modifications were part of an overall updating of the stadium for American Football games. I'm sorry, but that is ridiculous. The...

Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

This will be an expanded field of teams/games and the US will be hosting the majority of the games. I have seen it predicted that 10-12 cities in the US will host. The one advantage KC has is the natural grass, while many other stadiums have turf. It is possible to do temporary natural playing surfa...

World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

The US has submitted a joint bid along with Mexico and Canada to host World Cup 2026 and is considered a favorite to land it. Could KC have a chance at being a host city? I am fairly certain that the field at Arrowhead is too narrow to meet FIFA standards, but could the first few rows on each side b...

Re: Westport's fate post-P&L

I was surprised to see that. Am I wrong in assuming since it is a vacation, this isn't just for temporarily closing the streets (for weekends, like they often do)? I am surprised to see that Pennsylvania would be vacated all the way to 40th St. That would cut off the access to the garage from Pennsy...

Here is an interesting tidbit in the BizJournal article on this development: "Meanwhile, Hoffman said, UC-B Properties is building and restoring single-family homes near the Scholars Row site. The firm recently acquired a total of 21 vacant lots and old homes in an area bounded by 54th Street, ...

Re: The KCMO School District

It looks like it will be for a high school. They are hoping to open in 2018. The same year, they are also hoping to expand the kindergarten class from 120 to 200. It's unclear how that will be done, but I'm guessing that perhaps the 7th and 8th grades could move to the Derrick Thomas site as well, f...

Re: The Gallerie - 27th & Gillham Apartments and Condos

I am assuming 3 retail spaces for this phase of the project, all being on McGee. I am fine with the scale of this project. I think high rise actually would be a bit out of scale with the area, although they would have had great views. The upper floors of these buildings should still have good views....
