Redevelopment of Second Street RFQ & City Market plans
The railroad tracks have been gone for 2 months and 2nd Street is now essentially a dirt road. Will they be waiting for a final plan to be selected before they pave it or are they going to go ahead and pave it before then?

Blue Springs nearly doubles in size?
Scooter, here is the proposal for the Jackson County portion of MetroGreen, which includes the 40 Hwy corridor in the first phase, along the east side of BS and Jacomo lakes in the second phase, and northern Blue Springs to Grain Valley and the southest in the third phase. http://www.marc.org/metro...

Blue Springs nearly doubles in size?
Blue Springs is nearly 100% developed. I would argue that if you take out the parkland (or maybe even if you included it) it would be the densest city in the metro by numbers before the annexation. I have to give you that, this is true. By my calculations is comes out to about 3,500 to 4,000 people...

Blue Springs nearly doubles in size?
I'm very curious about the shape of the annexed area. The articles I've read mention a few roads but none give the complete boundaries. I understand though that it does now extend all the way to Colbern Road, which is a rather bold move and extends the boundary a mile further south than I figured th...

Grain Valley Sprawl Consequences
It's disgusting to me that so many thousands of people moved into this town in the last several years and then voted down the tax to help the schools support their load by a 3 to 1 margin.

I'd love to see MODOT just up and hand control of every lettered route to the counties. Then the rural folk and right wingers will have the local control they love so much, and MODOT will free up tremendous amounts of cash that can use used to maintain/repair upgrade the PRIMARY routes... the routes...

Olathe annexing to 175th Street
Next thing I know they'll probably install the 127th & K-7 traffic light that I wrote so many letters about the need for during the years I lived there. :) :? where??? I cannot visualize that intersection. 127th is also called Harold at that spot. It's right across from Ernie Miller Park. Sever...

KC pet peeves...
If we go the peeve route the one that gets me is traffic reporters who forget the layout of their city and give incorrect problem locations: * I-69 is completely backed up. (Do they mean Highway 69 or are the misreading 169?) * Similarly, I have heard "I-50", "I-291", "I-350...

Olathe annexing to 175th Street
Have you heard when/if this project is scheduled to begin and end? Nope, sure haven't. :( fyi....another positive for Olathe will be the 127th interchange installation (2004??), although it may not affect traffic flow in and out of the areas to the south that we are currently discussing. I thought ...

Olathe annexing to 175th Street
What WILL need to be looked at again is the 151st/I-35/K-7/169 HWY intersection where all of these roadways merge near OMSI/Target/GMGP area. Hopefully the Lone Elm interchange will get built soon and relieve some of the demand off the aforementioned multi-layered Silly Straw. (I know Olathe likes ...

Riverfront, why not again?
The remains of 1st Street still exist in the wooded area to the north of the River Market, but railroad tracks and a flood wall cut it off from the river. Plus, it's in the future archealogical park, so nothing will get built there as all the original ruins are hidden away in those woods. (Along wit...

Re: Olathe annexing to 175th Street
With I-35 being the only freeway in Olathe, you have to wonder what will happen with I-35 traffic once Olathe hosts 100,000 + people....I think it could get scary bad. Olathe already does host 100,000+ people, and I-35 already is scary bad in that area. Fortunately 175th Street is being improved by...

Haunted KC stories for halloween
I have nothing personal to share but there's the story of Epperson House at UMKC. Nothing happened during any of my visits inside the place though it is admittedly creepy.

I "loved" the KC episode where the cops were called in to break up a domestic food fight in a house on Food Lane.
At least that episode also featured a cool police chase on I-70 with a car driving on rims at night.

A Gameworks would be awesome there.... except parents and teachers would never be able to drag the kids into the museum.

Thanks!
If the KCMO web site's data is right the middle building (the one I suspect is the correct location) is the Hobbs Building 1427 W. 9th. A Google search turns up a post in the SoundsGood message board about an event there in September, just a month before the video footage was shot.

It has to have been taken from one of three buildings at 9th & Liberty indicated by the red arrows below. My money is on the middle of the three. If it were the left one the middle building should be partially visible in the photo, and the building on the right seems too low. The middle building...

I've been to Science City.... once. I have been to COSI in Columbus, OH at least a dozen times.... including three since Science City opened. Science City is easily the dullest science museum I have ever seen. It's truly just an indoor playground... very little substance at all. Bringing in actual a...

I would venture to guess that most folks that hate on JoCo don't know diddly squat about the 100 year history of places like Morehead, Stanley OP, Gardner and Olathe. ](*,) As someone who has lived in Eastern Jackson County, Brooskside, Midtown, JoCo, and Downtown, I have to agree. I have no proble...
