Re: Wyandotte Proposed Sports Resort
there was another article in the paper about KC hosting the Pan American Games in 2019. This would be the kind of facility that would help bring that event to KC. And Wyandotte county, especially this area, seems like the ideal place for something like this.

I'm glad you liked Imij! Jimi is a nice guy, and the salon is a very cool place. I originally thought the "styling stick" was expensive, until i realized it lasted 3 or 4 months. Then th price was very reasonablre. As for the eye candy, I never really noticed, since my eye candy would be d...

Re: First Friday - 6/1
street blast was a lot of fun, saw folks i hadn't seen out in months. Good music, but actually incredibly tame as far as crowds go. Only a few drag queens, and that was it. Where were the freaks? Dammit!! One very cool chick with hula hoops who was grooving to the DJs.

It looks like the south loop used to look. and the east loop looks now. and look at both of those areas. Yea, it looks bad now, but if the south loop develoment is a success, then I expect that the nothern edge of the loop would hopefully develop organically, and not as a large, single development

Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District
I don't think the issue is child oriented businesses, but rather the atmosphere in the district. No one wants to expose their kids to drunken fools stumbling down the street, or fights. Entertainment district is not necessarily the same as a "party district". I've seen families with young...

Re: Official: KCMO Light Rail
0 Action on the city's part? Are you kidding? Or are you just counting actual construction beginning as "action"? How long would it take the ATA to reconfigure the routes as you propose? Have you got those new routes down and the placement of the stops? If they cut the PRC routes, and the...

Re: Nelson-Atkins Expansion (YES..white glass is the end result)
They are not the stewards of the CBD. We all are. You cannot blame the kempers and the durwoods for the failure of the downtown core, there were a lot of factors that led the decline of the area, just like in other parts of the country. yea, they have bought a lot of land and demo'd buildings, but ...

Re: Official: KCMO Light Rail
Everyone agrees with what you say, highlander. But everyone seems to be also ignoring the problem of drastically reducing funding for the current level of bus service. There is a limit to how much the ATA can tax in order to run the bus service, and the amount left that they can use is a tiny fracti...

Re: Nelson-Atkins Expansion (YES..white glass is the end result)
Yeah once the art critics like it, than everyone changes there mind. People are sheep. As opposed to those who take a contrary opinion JUST because the building got positive reviews, not because they've actually done more than drive by and/or listened to the nay-sayers. Crosby supports destroying K...

Re: OFFICIAL - Performing Arts Center construction
I wonder what the likelyhood is that the PAC would continue to have first friday events onsite when the building is done? They could really do some very cool things with local groups who want/need more exposure. Yet another dimension to the urban fabric.

Re: OFFICIAL: NABC Hall of Fame building design
the success of this design will all rest on the finish of the exterior. someone earlier said, and i agree, that next to the Sprint Center, you'd want something that fit in well next to SC, but not compete visually. Looking at in context of the entire site, it might work. Lets see how the entry pl...

it doesn't matter if its one person or two or an entire assembly lne. if you're making coffee for someone, and you look like you just crapped your pants and just want to go home, your business is going to suffer. Stretch is right. If you can't at least be pleasant to the people who are paying you,...

What the hell is the bitching about the 18 month study? They are taking all the necessary steps to secure federal funding, and thats all. It gets us in line. If the pace is not fast enough, bitch at the feds!!!~ They don't even begin to receive funds from the tax until 2009! We're going to have lig...

Re: Official: KCMO Light Rail
Why not email someone at BNIM and ask them why not main? or walnut? You know they carefully considered each street. I don't think the US is thatt big of an issue. Its the sentimentality thing: Yea, it would be very cool to have a rail line go to US, but is it the most practical and cost effective? ...
