Re: Arcade Fire at Starlight 9/28
When are people arriving to wait in line? The gate opens at 7, and as of Wednesday, the show wasn't completely sold out. They said they were anticipating a lot of walk-ups at the box office, though. I've never seen a GA show at Starlight before, so...

They were filming a guy sitting on a couch in the middle of the street. In no way is that strange.

Re: Opening Event of Sprint Center: OFFICIAL - Elton John
Well, KCMO-ites are the only people who'd have a legit gripe about not getting tix to SC events. Who paid for the arena? Shouldn't the people who frequently rent cars and stay in KC hotels be the one legit gripe? I'd say everyone everywhere should be upset with ticket brokers in general. This is...

Re: P+L Tenant Rumors
I would guess that HoB might reconsider if a Hard Rock Casino opened next door. That could be the real reason behind Hard Rock's disappearance from the P&L district as the casino deal is also Cordish (and also why so many people were dead certain there would be a Hard Rock in town). They'll ma...

Re: Events that would get you to go...
Someone's going to say it, so... Hockey or Basketball? Sorry, moot point. It would be nice to have a band playing in the canopied area each Saturday. Also, because of the open container thing, this would be a cool place to center a tourist-friendly, post-parade Mardi Gras celebration (to steal a l...

Re: Kansas City is in Missouri...
OK Joes is the most overrated place in kc First off, who are you kidding? Second, I thought Okie Joe's wasn't in KC because that would only mean Missouri? The metro includes Kansas whether you like it or not. Missouri is the heart and soul of the city, and I can see why people get upset, and why...

Re: Sprint service downtown
There are 3+ comparable phones available at every price point. I have had different Sanyo Sprint phones for the last 3+ years and have gotten better service than some of my friends with Sprint. I only drop calls when inside my office or close to the elevator downtown, but everyone with different p...

I'm not saying that the list is or should be considered. I'm saying there is/has been a reason why we are on that list.

http://www.usatoday.com/travel/destinations/2007-08-16-kansas-city-renewal_N.htm In case it hasn't already been posted somewhere. People will start moving to Kansas City when more 20-something Kansas Citians stop moving to bigger/other cities. Many move somewhere to try and meet someone or have a m...

Re: AMC coming to Empire, Midland to be restored...
Perhaps the "large" player is Live Nation? Live Nation owns the House of Blues and also some Fillmore branded venues across the country. Perhaps they are going to invest in this new joint venture between AMC and Cordish as its own brand? That would be better than seeing the Fillmore Kan...

The fan site points you to ticketmaster where it says pre-sale starts tomorrow. The Seattle show in the pre-sale area was $40 + $15 or more in charges.

Re: Arcade Fire at Starlight 9/28
arcadefire.net claims that the tickets can be ordered pre-sale through their website today through the 10th, though I don't see the KC show listed yet. Also, if nobody saw, this concert will also feature LCD Soundsystem. This is a pretty big deal concert for KC to be getting as far as emerging or ...

Neko will be there, per her website. It looks like they may be trying to get the whole group in on this tour. Destroyer doesn't currently have any tour dates listed.
Neko is also performing with Rufus Wainwright at the Voodoo Lounge this Thursday (wish it was just Neko).

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Arguing about the past is pointless here. There was a vote... There will be renovations (fear is a powerful tool)... A downtown stadium will be built in 2025 hovering above the Sprint Center. Does anyone think that putting a soccer stadium downtown or close to downtown is a good idea? I don't se...

Twin Cinema was pretty amazing, and I look forward to their next release, Challengers. As you say, I love Liberty Hall and am definitely going to try to hit this concert up. I miss seeing movies there on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I forget which day was which, but I could see a $2 movie and get $1 ...

Also, check out metacritic.com's best reviewed recent albums if you need someone official to learn you about some new music. There aren't a lot of top 40 powerhouses on the list ranked above a 70 because that is comprised mostly of spoon-fed dirt. Pandora.com may be one of the best music sites out...
