Re: 2012-2013 Big 12 College Football

So uh, K-State is like a thing this year, huh? I'm not getting on that bandwagon until Klein passes them back into a game they're losing by multiple scores. He was 13 for 20 (or something like that), but at no point did he inspire any confidence when he dropped back to throw. We counted 4 plays on ...

Re: Louis Curtiss: The Frank Lloyd Wright of Kansas City

1311 Manheim is not at the top of the list at all (not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing), but after randomly checking some other ones, they seem to really like to write violations for it. I hadn't seen the list when I first posted. We got a list of addresses without the accompanying score...

Re: Kansas, Missouri battle over companies

Larson Binkley Engineering is relocating from Johnson County to the Crossroads area of downtown Kansas City, a move that will bring 40 jobs. http://www.kansascity.com/2012/09/21/3826219/engineering-firm-moving-from-johnson.html To copy Fishnet's move, they plan to display beige houses and SUVs on t...

Re: Louis Curtiss: The Frank Lloyd Wright of Kansas City

I'm afraid there are many historically important structures on that list and we will consequently loose them forever. You would think there would be a way for the City to secure and mothball those structures until another solution could be sought. For what it's worth, here's the list (I assume this...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If we're counting Washington's 2012, we have to count the Pirates' 2012 as well. They are likely not going to make the playoffs this year, so their streak would be at 21... right?

Completely agree. 68 trees is a huge number.

From some informal observations, the mortality rate of new street trees has to be well over 50%.

Re: Clerical overlook nearly costs Eastside 72 mature trees

Here's a tweet from the City Manager two days ago: "Trees in Manheim neighborhood. Facts: 140 will be saved, 68 to be removed are dying, or too big for project. All lost will replanted." Saw that. Tweeted back that none of us will be alive when the replacement trees reach the size the cur...

Re: Louis Curtiss: The Frank Lloyd Wright of Kansas City

Our neighborhood just got the word that KCMO's new building demolition initiative will include the Curtiss-designed house at 1311 Manheim Rd (39th at Manheim/Virginia). Not a done deal yet, but the vultures are circling. It's currently for sale but the current owners inherited the property, don't re...

I think corporate DQ is also pushing some of the older stores to close or remodel. Wasn't there one in Independence where they had to pull the franchise license because the owner wouldn't comply?

has anyone else notices the negative people at the star are becoming less and less with each article and more and more inane? I'm pretty sure my grandmother could play for these guys.

A joke of a team, in a joke of league, playing in a joke of an arena...is still probably KC's most stable sports franchise. :(
How are they KC's most stable sports franchise?

If memory serves, anything like this that is displayed at the Nelson-Atkins is behind doors, not out front on the main lawn or on school bus row.

Ok, that aside Bobbyhawks, I went to definition search "swell" and I'll be damned, but my use was not there to be found. Not in Webster, Slang, Urban, etc... Chaglang, it was your usage and you can give your reference, but for me a swell is a person of means, standing, regard and social/b...

I could absolutely see one of the swells living on the 1500 or 1600 blocks of Madison or Summit doing something like that. Chaglang, I agree with your post, as you are well informed. Re: 2012 Election

This practice always struck me as overly intrusive. And I would agree with Romney, but for the fact that the GOP has made taxes the central theme of everything related to this election, and Romney himself is attempting to turn the race into a referendum on who pays what.

Its not even in the Crossroads Yep, and you'd think that Captain Westside, Tony, would know that. I took a look at Tony's post, and the "blueprints" he obtained were from a flyer that was distributed door-to-door to the entire neighborhood. The drawings are from a BNIM/Bob Berkebile propo...
