Re: Freight House Podium Project - 20th and Walnut

I just want to put it out there that even without the Podium Office and Hotel building, Phase 1 is going to really transform the development area. As NormalThings said, 200 apartments, 12 townhomes, parking and the redevelopment of the Superior building are all great projects. Throw in the office an...

Still hoping the building along Main ends up looking like this. The massing and interaction is perfect.

They'd be a good partner for this. Continue their investments in the City of KC and Region with this one at Freighthouse.

I imagine it’s not actually pool water but instead designed to look that way from the street.

New Name: Ascend at River Market I took a look at the latest plans submitted to Compass. There are no formal renderings yet. Some things in the latest plans that I noticed... - 250 parking spaces - 232 apartments - Amenity deck's pool "overflows" to create a water feature along Oak Street...

Re: Missouri Amtrak Service

I know the speed is an issue for many people, but for those who just want to take it slow and steady, Amtrak is the way to go. I would like it if they increased the speeds a bit in order to cut travel time, but that would probably require the state to step up.

Re: Katz on Main

I mean, preserving a building and integrating a facade is costly. Not sure if it warrants 25 years of abatement under a model Quinton Lucas pushed for a few years ago, but they are necessary to preserve the building. There’s room for negotiation here though and I expect that’s what will happen.

Re: New Broadway Bridge

I agree that KC has too much grass called parks and not much to lure people to those places. It's not just lack of bike trails. Many bigger parks don't have enough park shelters, BBQ grill setups and benches, so more people can have gatherings at the same time. Many parks don't even have good tree ...

Even if it's not Blue Cross, I've heard through the wire that the building will not be vacant when it opens. Wasn't told who the tenant could be though.

Good to see this one starting. And as Lux prepares to start on this, they unveil another project in St. Louis. Good stuff from them. I expect them to do more beyond this (Edison) and Katz in KC as time goes on.

I don't think it was ever off the table that Lux would seek incentives here, just it was never made clear.

Even if they don't end up seeking incentives, I'd say that the HKC push is a precaution just to keep people engaged with this who want to see Katz saved.

Re: OFFICIAL: Power & Light District

Bird and other scooter companies can impose a geofence on certain areas. If they wanted to, they could probably make it to where the geofence goes into effect after 7:30 at the Power and Light District but leave it open elsewhere. I agree that flat out banning them is shortsighted.

I would imagine it depends on turnout and the candidate(s) that run against Lucas.
