Re: Kansas City is in Missouri...
Came across a "few" people in Orlando last week. When I mentioned Kansas City as where I was from some replied that they have never been in Kansas or any other comment. Did I correct them to say I was from Missouri? NO. What would be the point? Some were visitors to the country so at...

I also think some posters stick more to certain threads than others. I don't know a whole lot about development, so I try not to post much there. I usually read a lot and occasionally ask a question. Same here. I read tons of threads, but usually only post in the ones about subjects where I feel r...

Re: absinthe.
I had a glass of Lucid at the Dark Horse in Westport last weekend. It was $10, so I probably won't be drinking it frequently, but it was pretty great. Last time I was in Europe, I was 12 years old, so I've never tasted European absinthe, but I enjoyed Lucid (though probably not enough to regularly...

Re: NHL OR NBA, let the message board decide!!
It doesn't help that there was already talk going around that the NBA was fixing games when the ref got caught, but that was one isolated situation, and that was not an NBA thing, that was a gambling thing. My biggest problem with steroids is that I think that a good player who wants to stay clean...

Re: NHL OR NBA, let the message board decide!!
I'm not saying steroids don't matter -- of course they do. But I do think the whole thing is overblown a bit, and my main point is just that refs fixing games is a much bigger deal, which is why I think it's reasonable that more people have a low opinion of the NBA than of MLB. That's also what I ...

Re: NHL OR NBA, let the message board decide!!
I don't know what all those people polled were thinking of when they said they thought it was "a shame what's happening to the league," but personally if I were asked that question I'd agree with them, and I don't care as much about what's happening in MLB or the NFL. MLB's steroid issue ...

Re: Top 3 Movies You've Watched in the Past Month
There Will Be Blood is really cool and the final scene (particularly the milkshake speech) is utterly unforgettable, but I do think PTA went a little too far trying to compare his movie to Treasure of the Sierra Madre. Daniel Day Lewis is a great actor, no doubt, but he's no Bogart and his Daniel P...

Re: Top 3 Movies You've Watched in the Past Month
Finally caught Persepolis the other day. I'd been looking forward to it for quite a while and it didn't disappoint. Interesting content-wise, though it didn't really tell me anything I didn't already know about the Iranian Revolution. I'm not really familiar with the graphic novels it's based on,...

Re: Top 3 Movies You've Watched in the Past Month
I've been watching a bunch of movies lately, but about a week ago I finally got around to checking out the Lives of Others. It's a German movie that beat out Pan's Labyrinth for Best Foreign Film at the Academy Awards last year. Takes place in East Berlin in the mid-80s, following the stories of a...

Re: Six dead in Kirkwood city council shooting
So last night channel 9 led with this and their teaser just mentioned someone opening fire on "the mayor and city council." Either they didn't even specify where it was until they got to the actual story, or I missed that part. In any case, they had me thinking for a moment that this had...

Re: Super Bowl XLII
Think I'm gonna go out on a limb here and call this wishful thinking. This Patriots team is completely different from the ones that won three Super Bowls with a field goal each time. Randy Moss alone completely changes things. Even when he's not catching the ball, the defense still has to accoun...

Re: World Indices Nosedive - U.S. Markets Could Follow
We should start chopping in Stockholm's own backyard, where we are heavily involved in NATO. The Euros can afford to fully support their own defense. As a bonus, the Russians would like us more. But then what'll we do if the Reds attack? Once we lose West Germany, it's just a matter of time before...

The bad part isn't that you're not paying attention to politics, it's that you're watching Family Guy.Sussudio wrote: Is it bad of me when politics get on my nerves so I switch to Family Guy instead of the news?

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't particularly have anything against the signing, I just don't really have any strong feelings about it either way. Tomko has pitched almost his entire career in the NL, where he has generally put up decent but not incredible numbers. You point out that he went 2-1 with a 4.61 ERA for the Pa...

Re: Super Bowl XLII
No way!! The last time they played at Giants Stadium, it was kinda close. NY were one out of three teams that actually gave the Pats a run for their money. IMO, New York has the blueprint on how to defeat New England. The Giants will definately put immense pressure on Brady, as New York defense i...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Meh. For a second there I thought Allard Baird was our GM still. At least Dayton has the sense to project Tomko as a 5th starter or long relief guy, while Baird would have made him the ace of our staff. I predict Tomko is released by July. I felt sort of the same way. I mean it's a one year deal f...

Surprised no one has mentioned this yet. Royals have agreed to terms with Brett Tomko according to ESPN.
