Re: Oak Tower

I'm building up a collection of unbuilt/alternative project proposals for Kansas City buildings and was wondering if you ever came across those articles. I'd love to include them. Is the R.H. Sailors Project (1986) included? It was one of the top 10 worst failures in KC development history. The Sai...

Re: KC in TV and Movies

You're right, and the joke didn't fail. I got a good laugh out of it. You don't understand. It is not always about actual distance/depth. Video uses a multitude of effects to create depth and distance; shadowing, blur, etc. In myopia the eyes pick up what is clearest and focuses on it. Obviously, i...

Re: Two Light - 14th & Grand

One quick and obvious idea is for 3 light to be much taller (45+ floors) and much thinner and 4 Light to be much shorter.

Re: On-going downtown development projects

^ I agree. A 10 floor streetwall along Grand would be substantial and as large as any building downtown except for 3-4. It would be great if Cerner had enough sense to build a 50+ floor signature tower on one of the best, high profile blocks of downtown. https://uniim1.shutterfly.com/ng/services/med...

The Traders exterior upgrade is really looking from the southwest.
The exterior is going to make the building look practically new with the dark windows.

Re: P&L District: 13th & Walnut Site Proposal

The name "County Line" is a nod to Joe's Kansas City's roots in Kansas City, Kan., where its first area location sits along Mission Road and County Line Road. Maybe someone should remind Dumbf__ Dorothy that he's not in kansas anymore. His bbq slathered-in-cheese sammich should be a big h...

Ya know, I have to say this guy may be a good businessman and know the BBQ restaurant biz. But that dumb son-of-a-bitch is the most clueless moron ever shat out of an ass when it comes to naming his shit. I mean, we're talking Kansas City BBQ, which has a great urban culture and tradition going back...

Re: P&L District: 13th & Walnut Site Proposal

It's like arguing your favorite color is better than someone else's favorite color. That's a stupid analogy. Everyone agrees that "some BBQ is actually better than other BBQ" because there is a mass consensus of best places in KC. Example: Everyone knows that Rosedale BBQ sucks ass, but i...

Re: P&L District: 13th & Walnut Site Proposal

While I like Q39 much more than Joe's KC (only kansans would put cheese on BBQ). That is crazy talk. I'm fine with claims that Joe's is overrated, but barely above average? That argument only flies if you are only considering KC BBQ joints (not nationally), and even then it is well into the above-a...

Re: KC's quirks and oddities (keep it light)

This midwest pork steak thing is a German immigrant phenomenon I think. KC doesn't have the "tradition" with "pork steak and Mauls" like STL does, but growing up we ate pork steak quite a bit. KC was mostly a German and Irish immigrant city. My German father loved pork steak. We ...

It would be a plus for downtown to have such a famously hyped (but barely above average) BBQ joint.
But Food TV and other media will still focus on the hick gas station location for the kitsch.
