Right now, I want a shot at the BCS, but between the three possible opponents, I would like a shot at Alabama.KCPowercat wrote:A&M can erase K-State fans ire stemming from 1998 with an upset Saturday. Gig 'em!

Re: 2012 Election
So 538 is predicting 314 electoral votes and 51% of the popular vote for Obama, and half the states. Is that a mandate? Or at least high ground in dealing with congress going forward? I'm not sure we'll see a "mandate" again for a really long time, without the President's coattails giving...

Re: 2012 Election
(in order of likelihood): 1. Ohio. The polls are tied. I made Ohio red because there's little to suggest a reversal in it's 2012 GOP sweep. 2. Wisconsin. The polls are tied. I made it red because Paul Ryan is from there. 3. Virginia. Polls are close. I made it red because Romney is +22 in Independe...

Re: 2012 Election
Of course there is speculation about how Sandy will affect the election. Those opinions are all over the map. Was Christie genuine in his praise for Obama? Or was he clearing the way for a 2016 run? He sounded genuine to me. At this point, we are really too close to the election for polls to adequa...

Re: 2012 Election
I'd like to know what polls you are smoking. From @tobincommmentary That’s something that gets us to the heart of this conundrum about turnout. As Josh Jordan explains in National Review, both Gallup and Rasmussen agree that the partisan split between Republicans and Democrats has changed markedly ...

Re: 2012-2013 Big 12 College Football
I do not see anyone beating Alabama this year. The size, speed, and precision of that team on both offense and defense is NFL quality. I really think Alabama is in a class above everyone else this year. Frankly the Big 12 is overrated as a conference this year. Just about every team is worse than l...

Re: 2012 Election
There is some polling now that suggests that Dems in blue states are much less fired up about voting for Obama than Republicans in red states. So my guess is Romney is really going to run up the totals there, while Obama may very well take most or all the swing states and we could have Romney as a ...

Re: 2012 Election
I think Obama will win Nevada and Virginia if Hispanics come out in Nevada, and women come out in Virginia. Hispanics are probably being severely undercounted in Nevada, Arizona and Colorado. Arizona is probably too red to turn, but Nevada and Colorado are probably actually dem leans. Nevada strong...

Re: 2012 Election
Racism in rural counties is still very alive and blatant. The worst offenders are very insular and rarely travel outside the county, and hurry back once they've finished their business. Where I grew up in NW Missouri, many are afraid to even come to Kansas City--except to the airport. This is one o...

Re: 2012 Election
Bingo. The voting patterns that held until the 1964 election began during Reconstruction. Until Johnson, the Democratic lean was a holdover from being were the party of McClellan, a negotiated end to the Civil War, and opposition to Lincoln. And the Republicans were the party of abolitionism and Re...

What are some of the key Kansas races I should be following? I'm not see many political ads from the Kansas (actually, political ads seem down a bit this year compared to past years). Re: 2012 - 2013 SEC football
All of KU's non-conference games are spoken for through 2014. (http://www.kansascity.com/2012/08/31/3790379/ku-announces-future-nonconference.html) I really don't get why the SEC does an 8 game conference schedule. It seems like having another conference game would bring in more money for everyone ...

Re: 2012 Election
The one are where I think Obama destroyed Romney (or where Romney may have hurt himself) was with Hispanics. Romney showed that he just doesn't get it, and his use of the term "illegals" probably was the biggest gaffe in the debate. It will be interesting to see what effect that has on the...

Re: 2012 - 2013 SEC football
The argument for the SEC needs to be that it elevates the stature of the football program and the University as a whole. Throwing away 100+ year old rivalries against K-State and most notably KU is only justified if MU is elevated by the move. I would agree with this, except I don't view Mizzou as ...

#4 in the BCS! Alabama and Florida will take care of each other, but we still need Oregon to lose, but provided they do, win out and we are in! If Oregon does win out, with games against BCS ranked USC, OSU, and Stanford, I think the championship game would keep them ahead of us. Yes, I can apprecia...

Re: 2012 - 2013 SEC football
I agree with all of what you said. In fact, I think you and I agree more than we realize. I just think there's more to the story. Of course the SEC wanted Mizzou because the size of the state makes MU attractive, as you said. There are many other reasons why MU to the SEC is good for the SEC. And, ...

Re: 2012 - 2013 SEC football
The SEC has more teams. If Missouri were in the Big XII they would be looking at eight losses in conference, and no bowl regardless. Yes, the SEC has more teams now , but that hasn't always been the case. And yes, Mizzou would be struggling just as much in the Big 12 this year as they are in the SE...
