Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

NY Jets and NY Giants play in New Jersey so the team(s) could still be called by Kansas City. The two newest MLB stadiums are located away from the central city in areas considered suburban and were built as suburban development plans. So being downtown isn't really considered necessary for the fin...

Re: TIME TO FREAK OUT AGAIN ABOUT CONFERENCE REALIGNMENT! THE BIG 12 IS DEAD! MAYBE!

Can we rename the thread yet? There's a Big 12 Tournament thread (not all that far back) and I should have put my post there. If there's a moderator around that wants to move my initial and ensuing posts there, that would be OK. Nah it’s not even about your post, I’m just annoyed constantly reading...

Re: Streetcar to the riverfront

This project's struggle more closely emulates other US streetcar projects (precarious funding and financing), but glad it's finally happening. It will complement the Main Street Extension nicely. Hopefully PortKC can live up to its obligations since this small segment is not inside the TDD. It shou...

Re: Economy

Lake City Ammunition Plant in Independence is a primary supplier of small arms ammunition to the US military as well as a huge supplier to the civilian market. I'm sure a lot of Lake City ammo ends up exported to allied militaries around the world. Can confirm. The Greek military provided ammo for ...

I think it’s odd that the anger is being reflected on the voters. Like we have an obligation to vote for whatever shit they throw in front of us. They did a bad job! It's not my job to let them fail upwards. If they would have talked to any of us, they would have known the crossroads location would...

No. With prices going up you aren't getting a very good ROI. Crappy schools, shitty roads, and crime people want to sweep under the rug. Then you have guys like the poster above who thinks we're making progress because a bike lane that will be unkept went up next to a brewery with some generic luxu...

How so? Also did they confirm Ped bridge timeline as well? Depth of track slab. They have the box style tram track, similar to the initial segment, which necessitated more shallow track slab. From who I had spoken with, the Ped bridge is being undertaken by the City, and is not directly tied tot hi...

Ground Breaking took place on Friday, March 1st. Timeline is projected for early 2026 opening. Unsure if that can be sped up at all. Seems the Grand viaduct might provide a little more difficulty than initially anticipated. https://i.imgur.com/B3ov8aM.jpeg https://i.imgur.com/hwt778M.jpeg https://i....

I've actually have seen this too and thought it had to be satire. I think some are just so disconnected from the urban core of the city they neither know anything about it or even care in the slightest what actually happens or goes on there. During the stadium discussion on social media, one of the...

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

Hopefully it is ran better than block 15. Block 15 is HOT GARBAGE. Wife and I went in one night to try it out, it smelled like raw sewage in the entire place, they were playing obscenely loud rave music at something like 6:30pm, and the waitress didn’t come over to our table for 15 mins after sitti...

Let's be honest. Nobody is going to help those displaced businesses. The only ones that can are their landlords and it's unlikely that will happen in any of these cases. Hasn’t Abbot already verbally committed to doing exactly that though? I think it depends who you ask. He has said that in the med...

Re: Missouri Amtrak Service

I assume this is a clever way to study rail to the airport? I am admittedly not fully in the loop these days, but when this was announced it was the first I'd heard of any interest in reconnecting St. Joe to KC. Could overlap but this is really about St Joe and Omaha service (MSP later). MoDot had ...
