Re: Amenities missing from downtown
when the royals evict royal master cleaners we'll be missing one of those. i used one of those delivery services when we first moved here and it absolutely sucked shit, so not sure what i'm going to do about this. hopefully abbott (or someone) successfully relocates them nearby.

This attitude is going to make me fight the tax. I'd rather the royals move to Nashville than close oak. Are you a Jackson County resident? I'm literally on those blocks every day. I'm not giving out any personal info. can confirm, met this guy at the bar at charisse some years ago. have also seen ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
that enormous park cap extension is the only thing i like about this and i will assume that part of it is vaporware until i physically see it. but if they think it's really happening then the park cap really shouldn't close walnut to street traffic. no north/south from main to locust is going to be ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
But at the same time, I question if much of anything will be built near the stadium in EV. I question if any decent improvements are made to the east loop of the highway to make it more pedestrian friendly and less of an eyesore, I feel like paseo west would become parking lots and the stadium will...

something like a museum could be awesome in terms of diversifying who's here, when, and why and creating a stronger customer base for surrounding businesses. I’ve been arguing that at some point Union Station is going to have to give Science City an eviction notice to actually flesh out train platf...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
IF this area of the crossroads was 90% empty and currently surface lots like EV, would those opposed still not want it there? Is the hold up demolishing existing (but not thriving) businesses or is it the fact that crossroads enthusiasts are clinging to the idea that the area isn't "corporate&...

the contention that the stadium will make the surrounding area more economically viable in the crossroads is in direct tension with literally everyone on this thread's eminently reasonable and well-founded skepticism that plopping the stadium in the EV would yield significant development in its envi...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
i love this godforsaken trash receptacle of a ballclub and still think 80 nights a year isn't enough activation to warrant the conversion of an imperfect but functional corner of the neighborhood into a big open air empty room for 75% of the year surrounded by a bunch of parking infrastructure. put ...

a lawsuit has been filed in jackson county court that appears to reference one or more parties to this project and/or site; not sure if actually related (not being coy—casenet has been unbearably slow lately so have not bothered to click through)

really bad coaching in high impact player development fields, too in the handful of years before 2023. need to find those little edges when you aren't going to compete payroll-wise.

i think the park's going to be great. i just don't think it's going to be any better having vacated walnut.
apologies for my perennially acerbic tone. i'd blame it on newborn sleep deprivation, but tbqh it's just a personal character flaw.

as climate and ecological disaster draws nigh, perhaps we should consider implementing a system to store the tears of our vanquished enemies in order to fill the fountain feature in kauffman 3.0 for its grand opening in 2091. i think i speak for all of us when i express my regret at the missed oppor...

Re: Capping the Loop
The grid is what is important, not whether or not cars can pass through it. But, why? I always thought keeping the grid was about not combining blocks to make a massive building causing the area around it to be less walkable. But, closing the grid for a park actually makes it more walkable . I coul...

Re: Capping the Loop
people up in arms about closing Walnut & Baltimore must not go downtown much. Those 2 streets are not that busy especially at the areas by 670 where the cap would be put in place. I feel that closing those streets creates more of an urban park feel. Thing Central Park in NYC. There is a street ...
