Re: 112 & 206 East 31st

Perhaps parking could be placed on grand as an element of traffic calming, and maybe swap those spaces from inside the buildings parking structure, so as to not lose any space for ground floor activation? We already intend to add parallel parking on Grand with a wide raised crosswalk. With all the ...

Re: 112 & 206 East 31st

I wish my neighbors would think a bit more all the way through "one of the reasons we voted for the streetcar extension was to *reduce* the need for cars/parking, right?", but alas. Another one of my pet peeves is one-way neighborhood streets (if you want traffic calming on side streets, ...

Re: 112 & 206 East 31st

Quick update on this, per a quick discussion with some in the neighborhood, parking has increased from 70 to 89 spaces (the maximum we can fit without eliminating units or the commercial space). Additional changes are being made to be more in conformity with the Greater Downtown Area Plan and not ju...

Re: Woodside Health Expansion in Westwood

Since renderings of the full project have never been posted here, I decided to post these. These are the most recent renderings (the ones I have in a packet show a project with an additional floor in the taller and shorter part). In case people weren't aware, Hufft designed this project. That is the...

Re: KCK Gondola

There is no interest in setting up transit from downtown KCK and downtown KCMO. Until the West Bottoms is built out we should focus north to NKC. NKC is where it's at! There's a lot of interest in KCK.......but since the metro decides to ignore KCK, that interest is ignored. Didn’t strawberry hill ...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)

I can't see the city approving this. I appreciate Drake's commitment to want to do something here, but they're spending a lot of time, money, and effort to get something approved here that has slim chance of ever being so.

Re: Oak Park Mall

If Oak Park loses two big anchors, but the rest of the mall remains fairly stable, I could see this going to way of Westfield Old Orchard in Skokie Illinois. They’ll build some mixed-use buildings in a bid to start turning the mall into something more of a neighborhood hub rather than standalone des...

Re: 108 Grand

This is EXACTLY what this site needs to make an impact. It's down in the hole as-is. A project with 829 apartments on 3.6 acres has to mean these will be high-rise buildings. Potentially touching City Harvest-level height. I'm excited to see the designs for this. Here's to hoping the architecture i...

Re: 5th and Main (Northwest Corner)

Committee delays approval. Requests the original 160 replacement parking spaces return in exchange for the elimination of 15 units at 50% AMI. If the team manages to do this, I think it gets approved. But what a bunch of bullshit. So many parking spots in what will become the most walkable neighborh...

Chris Stritzel, we need some drone photos of the gargoyles on the Aladdin.
I will add the request to the agenda so when I get well enough to emerge, I’ll send the drone up and get some photos. Really curious to see other details on this building too.

Brightline testing at 130mph. Great videos including showing it flying past cars on the highway. https://youtu.be/VIWY6jvau6U?t=50 And the Las Vegas-Rancho Cucamonga line out west should start construction towards the end of the year and open in 2026 or 2027. https://jalopnik.com/construction-of-10-...

I think it has 2-stories to go till it's topped out and then the slanted parapet. But I'm not sure. A small crane jump would have to occur.

It’s in council now. Shop owners having a brain aneurysm over a normal apartment project that would add density & more foot traffic to them. https://fox4kc.com/news/kansas-city-meeting-gets-heated-over-proposed-river-market-apartment-project/ “We can’t reduce our support for people coming here ...

Re: 5th and Main (Northwest Corner)

I thought that was double height lobby and retail. Could be wrong The 5th Street side has 2-levels of commercial space there. One at Floor 0 and another at Floor 1.5. The Main Street (east) elevation is just parking garage till you get to what would be 4th Street. In that case, you have the buildin...

Pretty underwhelming concert season ahead for KC in the spring and summer 2023. Seems like we're getting less of everything. Good news is we always have interesting local stuff that's as good as anything touring. Any shows ppl are looking forward to? Skinny puppy at liberty would be fun but it's $1...

Re: NE Corner of 14th & Wyandotte (300 unit apartment)

I’ve not seen anyone on this thread who has directly opposed this development nor the density/uses it will add. Some, rightfully so, are questioning wether we should be exited about an uninspired stack of glass boxes which doesn’t push the design envelope much from what’s been done in town for the ...
