Re: Mark Twain Tower going residential?
........a rooftop terrace with a dog park. In 1990 a couple from California unloaded their U-haul at one of the earliest loft developments in the River Market. After the long ride cooped up in the car, the husband took their schnauzer up to the rooftop deck to get some fresh air. He decided to thro...

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
Seems on days like these the streetcar doesn't have the capacity to handle the traffic it has, let alone people parking and riding to the city market. So, the popularity of the streetcar is a problem...? It's a 4 or 5 block walk from endless open parking at 7th and Main to the City Market. Kansas C...

It's not a feed shed, whatever that is. It's a quonset hut, one of the most innovative and practical pre-fab building designs of all time. It's cheap, efficient, practical and I think it's beautiful. Beauty, after all, is in the eye of the beholder – whether it comes from ashes or corrugated metal....

Re: OFFICIAL - East9 (former Pickwick Plaza)
If they are successful it might reflect that people are more interested in getting a place downtown for under $1000/mo than how many sf they're getting. I'd be surprised if that sf price would hold up on larger units. This is the key factor that they appear to be exploiting. There are a lot of folk...

A lot of energy being created through their efforts.

S & J Oyster Bar was located at Ward Parkway Shopping Center, on the East side - South. It was a great concept and well executed, but only lasted a couple of years. It was rumored that the owners spent the profits partying, and then some.... Robin Williams said in the '80's that "Cocaine is...

Re: Interstate Highway thru Crossroads ('80s Plan)
It was the 'Crosstown Connector' and up until the mid-90's there were still some people huffing and puffing to make this artery happen. The shift from such insular thinking was building early momentum. BTW, the term 'Crossroads' was a late 90's development. Prior to that it was 'Crosstown' and some ...

This is an old thread but my wife and I have been discussing the issue quite a bit lately. Anticipating an end to my career in the not too distant future, we looked in KC at condos all over downtown and crossroads while in town a few weeks ago. We quickly realized that if we wanted a dog, we better...

Word also says that the Muehlebach was found 'not eligible' for Historic Tax Credits, by the state of Missouri. No credits, no project, no building. Why was it found "not eligable"? I don't have that answer, if one is even given. I anticipate that they simply did not accept the premise fo...
