Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity
Is there a story behind why the south (2?) bays of the Poindexter Building were lopped off at some point?
The Broadway facade also does not look original, and if the stairs were going to be barred off then why leave them at all during a renovation?

I'd be A-OK converting the Trumans to two-way traffic.beautyfromashes wrote: ↑Fri Apr 14, 2023 5:01 pm Keeping the Trumans one-way in all likelihood funnels more traffic to Main than the presence of Baltimore or Walnut.

Re: Capping the Loop
I think you're seeing conflict between people who primarily work downtown and those who live downtown. If you live downtown, you care nothing about Baltimore and Walnut and would much prefer a walking options in their place. You're not trying to rush home after work and stuck in traffic. They're bo...

St. Louis might have thoughts on that: https://tnmot.org/beautyfromashes wrote: ↑Mon Jan 23, 2023 1:13 pm Instead of focusing on just one form of transportation how about a 'Crossroads of America' transit museum? Train engines, riverboats, cars and planes. All converge in Kansas City.

Admiral is still part of the boulevard system from Grand to Highland.
Fun fact: it's the only boulevard in the city with a one-way segment.

Re: General Amtrak Discussion
The current Missouri River Runner route is really the best one for Amtrak of all the routes that were ever built between STL and KC. Not coincidentally, it was also the first one built. The Katy was abandoned as a freight route partially due it its propensity for flooding. It had a circuitous route ...

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??
What outrageous cost? You dig the field, bury prebuilt garage forms and cover it up. Seems it'd be cheaper than building under a building for sure and likely cheaper than building up on an empty lot. Not sure how having parking under the field portion would make a terror attack more likely or deadl...

The district will span from 6th Street to 9th Street, Nebraska Avenue, down to Barnett roughly. It will include this building. Apparently the owner is interested in restoring the building. Also it is a friggen crime the Huron Building got torn down. ... https://kchistory.org/image/huron-building?so...

Strange to see the whole back end opened up. It makes apparent that the entire site is not very large. Being at the terminus of Westport road I know this area is considered park of Wesport, but I would like to see a brand of its own along Main from 38th to 40th. Something like the Midtown Art Deco ...

They will probably never get rid of Broadway and there is really no reason to. But it should be modified, possibly raised to help level out the topography some and calmed. Broadway needs to be slowed and narrowed with added cycle tracks etc and they need to build bridges and or tunnels to connect b...

If that footprint is to be trusted, they also want to demo the next three buildings north of the corner cluster and displace Union Hill Animal Hospital, Ambrosi Bros. Cutlery, and Museo.
