covering the loop?

Maybe I was a little too critical of our downtown. But honestly, there is not much to do in the "downtown loop" area so to speak. There are a lot of urban attractions outside of the loop, but honestly not much of a reason to patronize downtown. List of things in downtown loop you can't do:...

covering the loop?

typical KC, no planning, no organization, just a mis-match of ideas floating around the air. No wonder STL's downtown is 10 years ahead of ours.

The deadline is approaching that will determine the fate of the Hotel President. Has anybody heard if Jury has secured financing for the project? It would be a real detriment to downtown and greater KC if both projects fail and the buildings are turned to rubble.

Has the Plaza fallen off?

A lot of it probably has to do with the economy. Retail just isn't expanding like it was 4 years ago. Most upscale retailers are just holding on for the ride or even downsizing expansion plans and closing less profitable locations. The Plaza will continue to pull in name brand stores, but I agree, I...

Fire at Sprint City

Sort of......apparently a car caught on fire in one of the parking garages and the OPFD felt the need to evacuate half the campus....ridiculous. The really ridiculous thing about it is everybody had to vacate the campus for the safety of the parking garages :-s

I'd like to see a D & B's in the KC metro area. That would probably lure me out there, plus a Virgin Records.

I have a feeling the Hotel President and Empire Theatre are doomed for the demolition ball. Too bad, they both represent a great part of KC's history. They may not seem like much now, but damn, there's alot of history in those buildings. "Damn AMC, damn them all to hell".

I haven't heard much publicity about the Fidelity building...has re-development started? You would think you would hear more news about it progress, maybe it's too early in the stages for people to get excited about it. Does anybody know if there are any models available for the public to view? Just...

Meiner's on the Plaza closing

Meiner's is great for picking up fresh poultry, meat and/or a sandwich and chips, but I never shopped their frequently. I think it will be a loss, especially the convenience aspect of picking up a few quick items. BTW, Sunfresh in Westport sucks, unless you don't mind the long check out lines, terri...

KC v. Tulsa v. Fort Worth: Whose overhaul base closes??

Everybody's MO vs. KS bashing is only reinforcing the barriers that already divide this city. For a change, why don't some of you try to embrace the fact that the KC metro area is split (40/60) between 2 states both with rich history's. It's something that is entirely unique and if anything, should ...

KC v. Tulsa v. Fort Worth: Whose overhaul base closes??

No but KC is willing to sell their souls ($200M) to keep an airline overhaul base that is not going to add much economically to our market. Why not spend that money to bring in high tech, smaller, growth oriented companies that are going to expand and grow instead of contract. I say screw AA and the...

KC v. Tulsa v. Fort Worth: Whose overhaul base closes??

I imagine if you go to any older city (St. Louis, Detroit, Phily), the suburbanites will consider the city/urban core to be trashed out and dirty...that's why they live in the subs. KC is no different from any other city, it's not OP specific, come on people.

I understand that but I'm sure these developers under the concept of the domino effect. In order for this to happen, somebody has to be the first domino to fall. I think the developers are full of it and have no real plans of developing their block. Probably just another bum developer who holds on t...

I don't see how this project is holding up the P&L re-developments. The 2 projects are not intertwined. IMO, the P&L developers should concern themselves with developing the P&L building and their block and not use the Hotel President as an excuse not to start construction. This is not a...

Yeah I don't like the Plaza idea. I think Union Station or Crown Center/Cross Roads would be ideal. I can't even think where on the Plaza they could put it without tearing some significant building down. Unless they put it over by the Kauffman Foundation or Stowers, but let's hope not. There are ple...

Holden to sign MODESA into Law

I have to agree with Devin. KC deserves to get more out of MODESA than STL. STL has been reaping the benefits of state supported projects like the Dome and the Savvis Center for years. Has everybody on this board forgotten about the pennies that have been thrown to KC in the last decade while STL ha...

Photo definition of KC Neighborhood boundaries

I think a composite of aeriel views of downtown KC would be great, just how do we go about getting them? Another great vista of downtown KC comes from the downtown airport as you crest around the north loop surrounding the airport. The lower vantage point of the downtown airport makes KC's downtown ...
