Re: Google picks KCK/KCMO for ultra fast fiber network
A few thoughts as we near the close of pre registration. First of all I'm pleased and not at all surprised that the vast majority of Kansas City, KS has met pre registration. Out of KC, KS's 67 valid fiberhoods all but 11 have qualified which translates to 83% of valid fiberhoods. The follwing 7 fib...

Re: Google picks KCK/KCMO for ultra fast fiber network
I'm going to go ahead and trot it out. Gerymandering. Exhibit A: Eastern 49-63 This is the fiberhood surrounding Rochhurst University. A strangely long and narrow strip on the east side of Troost; it appears to be designed for the express purpose of ensuring Rockhurst would be in fiberhood guarantee...

Saw Atlantic Engineering trucks on Metropolitan Ave and Down S 55th St in south KC, KS ... also saw them working on SW Trfcwy in KCMO... finally we can see some progress. Found a city in California, Sebastopol ...getting GB internet from a company called sonic.net. They are offering GB connections f...

Horrace Mann Elementary to be converted to Loft Aparments
Foutch development company is proposing to convert the historic Hoarrace Mann Elementary school near 9th and State Ave in downtown to market-rate loft apartment. It is a beautiful old building built in 1908. The developer bought it from the Brotherhood of Boilmakers, who moved to Olathe and just rec...

Re: KCMO to get Google Fiber too...
Two things will be needed if they think regular people are going to purchase this service in large numbers. One: It must cost no more than $25 to $30 per month Denying service to people based on their credit like AT&T Uverse does, certainly wouldn't bode well for a wide service adoption. Two: Th...

A possible Google Fiber Hut sighting in KCK. http://wycowest.com/easyblog/entry/google-fiber-hut.html Yes, that is a google fiber hut ...the third one i've seen... they are always located adjacent to power substations. I have not seen any google fiber huts in KCMO yet. If you see any utility trucks...

Re: KCMO to get Google Fiber too...
Behold, a Google Fiber Hut (I think)! Like the article in the paper said, it doesn't have any sort of Google branding on it, but it went up at about the same time that all the fiber crews were working in the neighborhood. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-_Wbe4HN6Od8/T38KUtvDH-I/AAAAAAAAAVM/rNyb1b...

Saw online that Google applied for and received highway crossing permits from KDOT to hang fiber across K-5 Highway .... which I believe is the expressway spur that leads into Fairfax Industrial District.

I can't wait for KC's only Las Vegas style Casino to open! No more needing a Casino card to gain entry to the casino like at the MO pond barge Casinos.

Re: Woodside Health Expansion in Westwood
I honestly don't see the numbers working for the luxury apartments. The 39 Rainbow development was originally proposed to have apartments and that was scrapped .... and it is in a better location than Woodside. KCMO gets all the luxury apartment development in this particular area because their tax ...

Hyatt Crown Center SkyWalk disaster Memorial
They want to build a $600,000 thousand dollar memorial on the grounds of a park on Hospital Hill to commemorate the hundred or so victims of the Crown Center Hyatt disaster. Why do we need another memorial? The city can't afford to maintain the memorials we have now. Why don't they buy a bronze plaq...
