Re: KC in TV and Movies

I don't know for sure, but outside of establishing shots of Kelly's and possibly a few other locales I don't think M&E ever actually did any filming in the city. Also within the first 40 seconds of the first episode, an unseen tow truck dispatcher advises Eddie of an accident on "35W"...

Re: Making downtown more pedestrian friendly

I tried to fix the picture in Photoshop, but now that it's legible the point being made is lost on me? (Direct link to larger version) I don't know if it is the point, but I do notice that people killed while on the sidewalk would have to be marked "other". The incident report assumes tha...

Re: OFFICIAL - Hyatt House (900 Broadway)

The development tracker pdf isn't readable on my device apparently. Would anyone mind sharing any pictures/info from it? The best render was already posted. 13 floors, 2 restaurants, 0 car parking, 3 short term bike parking, 7 long term bike parking. Expected completion 2020, groundbreaking 2019. T...

Re: OFFICIAL - Hyatt House (900 Broadway)

Nice. That will have some incredible views from the rooftop too. Wonder why there is a such a large gap between it and the exiting building next door. I'm not sure that the gap is very large. I think the rendering is a bit tapered to make the building seem less blocky. look at the gap at the sidewa...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

I wonder if the speedometers may cause people to go faster than they are comfortable with.

Off topic, but I've also wondered the same about cars, particularly on the freeway.

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

I think the combination of streetcar + cars + pedestrians makes it too dangerous. You have tracks on the street, stops that will make scooter drivers want to get around, and no space. I don't understand why anyone would ride a bike down main either. Just go any other street and then cut over. I wou...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Just so I'm clear, you're saying block electric scooters from Main Street entirely? Including the street? Or just parking them? Yeah, I don't agree with that at all. Slippery slope. Bikes would be next, I guarantee it. I think the combination of streetcar + cars + pedestrians makes it too dangerous...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

This article makes it sound like spin is getting out of bike share nationwide, in favor of scooters:

I couldn't find any other sources, but I also don't see anything about bikes on spin's site.

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

What happened to the city plan to build a giant garage with street level retail between the market and Delaware? I believe it died. Hopefully--but what is dead can never truly die. Something like that anyway. Seems you're right. Right now, according to the city, there are no plans to add public gar...

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

After riding these, I am seriously considering buying an electric longboard or something similar. There is a new folding one that would be great for taking on the bus, perfect for first/last mile. https://www.linkyinnovation.com/.

Re: Bird Scooters Have Landed

Very few on the map now at 4:38PM. Seems ridership is so high most are running out of power by late afternoon, just a guess. We were in RM this afternoon (late lunch at Freestyle Poke - yum) to Union Station and noticed anecdotally fewer ride on sidewalk compared to first few days. Also didn't see ...

Re: e-Scooter Share

I just dont understand how the bikes or scooters can be prevented from vandalism? How can u stop a group of teens who are bored and they decide they want to throw a bunch of scooters or bikes in the missouri river? Between the GPS and the alarm, there is enough risk of getting caught that I don't t...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

So with four feet of width taken off of the travel lanes (and I doubt the parking lanes will be 12 feet wide), what does the extra road space go to? Will a turn lane be added? A buffer between the parking and the sidewalk?

Eric Bunch is running against her, it seems. Staub mentioned Bunch was running in his video today. I can't find any other mention of it except for in Tony's Kansas City which says he is running for 4th at-large and also calls Bunch a "militant", lol. Eric is indeed running against her, he...

Re: 2019 Mayor/Council Elections

I'm surprised that any first term council member would want to run for mayor in a crowded field where they will be way outspent. It isn't like they can do much more than they currently do. People are negative about Kander's potential candidacy because he might be using it as a springboard to a highe...
