Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Let me just provide a word of caution about this whole situation: St. Louis Soccer Fans were positive that the sales tax vote to fund the original MLS2STL stadium plan in Downtown West would pass in April 2017. It was defeated 53-47. However, that was not an existing sales tax and was a measure tha...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Y'all best simmer down with the doomerism. Fuck me. Give it a little bit. You take a setback like this and act like it's the end of the world. And then some wonder why folks on the other side of the argument can't take the pro-downtown stadium folks seriously. I swear, negativity feeds off of negati...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

So strange how Jackson County and KCMO have different election boards. But also makes sense considering KCMO is in 4 different counties. Also pretty impressive that KC has more voters turning out than the rest of Jackson County.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

You people think too much about online comment sections and less about the actual data & history of these votes which is that pass literally 98% of the time anywhere in the country. That's a much much better indicator. So yeah, it'll prob pass, and yes I will be dunking all over Grid and co. to...

Sunrise Movement confronted John Sherman. And they think he owes them a response after coming up on him like this?

Re: Aladdin--boutique hotel by Holiday Inn

I can't believe how many empty buildings downtown end up having vagrants living in them. Don't the property owners know how many buildings are set on fire by vagrants? One would think they would hire security to check the building daily for break-ins. Can't they hire someone to live in the building...

Re: Aladdin--boutique hotel by Holiday Inn

I took a walk-through of this building last week with the buyer. The vision was also told to me. Very well thought out and I think those who want what’s best for a building will love this. There are some challenges, but nothing is impossible here. The bones are good. There were vagrants in the build...

I know Andretti's Indoor Karting and Games will open up on a parcel here. It's a 108,560sf building. Here are the plans eluded to in that BizJournal Article. It'll be heard during the April 8th planning commission meeting. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53623946843_77e5f7c5d9_h.jpg https://live...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

2 days out from the election. Let's hear your final predictions for how the vote goes. I'll start. I believe it'll pass, but narrowly. 51% to 49%. No matter the outcome of the election, I expect both the Chiefs and Royals will set out on trying to remake their image after a process that could've bee...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Build it up closer to Grand than their initial vision. Cut the width of Oak in half and eliminate on street parking. It’ll fit, but barely.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

So stadium related developments east of Oak are dead for now? Would be a mistake to still not buy up a large amount of the property over there and plan some things. There are sites for two big buildings and a series of smaller gaps for smaller buildings.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

People living at the Sulgrave on the Plaza moan about the glare of the lights on the Plaza Tennis center. How would the ballpark affect the residents of 2 Light? Would be wise for someone to ask folks who live at One Cardinal Way. I imagine it’s something you get used to over time and when choosing...

Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity

The building on SE corner of 10th and walnut has had some light demo activity going on lately. Couldn't find a thread on that building, it was boarded up a year or more ago? Got confirmation this is being turned into condos. Maybe 18? Not a bad usage. Will be small condos though, so hopefully more ...

Reposting this before and after image of San Diego. Not saying the same thing will happen in the Crossroads, but Petco Park certainly helped the neighborhood develop.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Why would we keep the K if we have a downtown ballpark? The impression I get from Kull's post is that if they had to do this again, squash any indication that a demise is imminent for the K. Make the sales pitch solely for a new stadium and leave the discussion for what happens to K for a later tim...
