Mexican recommendations?
We were back in KC recently and ate at 3 mexican places. Manny's on SW boulevard is good Tex Mex as is Salsa Grill in Mission. By far our favorite, however, was Mi Cocina on the Plaza. Food was top notch; everything from scratch and top notch meats etc.... Perhaps Mi Cocina has improved from when I...

Re: OFFICIAL - Arena construction
In the Star's digital version, on Sunday before the election, Letters to the Editor were running 3-1 against the Arena. The only pro was from Shawnee not KC. The logic behind some of these letters (including the leader of CAAT) was bizarre, outdated and showed an astonishing lack of civic pride and ...

Enterprise giving their employees the day off on Aug. 3rd!
While I was back in town last week, all I saw on TV was anti-arena ads....constantly. I would hope that with all the press this thing is getting, Kansas City voters would see right through Enterprise's incredibly transparent message! Their selfish efforts to submarine the Arena Plan have been all bu...

whatever happened to these chains & local stores?
Allen's Drive In was torn down a long, long time ago to build the bank building now on the SE corner of State Line and 89th. I grew up about a block away from that place! I believe Wolf Brothers was down to a final store in the Town Pavillion and shut down due to family reasons. My in-laws tell me W...

$60 million Zoo upgrades
I was just at the zoo last week while visiting from the UK. I do not think the KC Zoo is all that bad. It is a bit of a disappointment with respect to the number of animals that are represented and some key species are missing (what kind of a zoo doesn't have Tigers and Bears??) but what they do, th...

OK. I'll clean it up and perhaps tone it down a bit and submit it to the Star.

KMBC-TV 9 Arena Poll
I am not a KC resident and, hence, cannot vote in the upcoming election that will decide future of the proposed downtown arena. I am, nonetheless, potentially affected by the outcome of the vote as I visit KC on a regular basis and generally rent a car when I do. Would I be willing pay an extra $4 p...

Nice picture. What is the building directly to the right of the View? It looks as if it's under construction also.

favorite places to eat when you were a kid.
I wouldn't exactly call these favorites but about the only places my parents took us were the Golden Ox by the stock yards, Nichols on SW Trafficway, and Zeppi's next to the hen house on Wornall. I know Zeppi's is long gone but are GO and Nichols even there any more?

Re: P&L District: 14th & Main Site Proposal
I used to go to Houston quite a bit on business and I really hate Landry's but Papa Deaux would be a really nice fit for KC! Why is everyone so gung ho for Hard Rock Cafe; in London they charge 10 pounds for a hamburger...that's 18 doallars!!!! It's a cool atmosphere but way overpriced for mediocre ...

Hello Folks. Another first post. I am a KC native who left town 20 years ago to take job and getting back has been an endeavor similar to seeking the elusive Holy Grail. In the meantime, however, it's great to discover this site; a fine way to keep up with what's going on back home. Anyway, we will ...
