Re: West Bottoms Redevelopment
Then just undo the cluster at the bottom of the 12th street bridge. And reinforce the Beardsley connection. Fixing the intersection of Chavez and SW Blvd would be useful also. Agreed. Beardsley and the lower 12th Street bridge is my preferred access to West Bottoms. The upper 12th bridge is for DT ...

Re: West Bottoms Redevelopment
Wouldn't it be easier to clean up the connection to Chavez and have that be the main WB access point, rather than a gondola? Not totally sold that the main WB access has to be directly to the core. It would be a good idea to clean it up and have it as an option, but where it puts you south of Kempe...

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal
Flying out of KCI today (in the Delta/Southwest terminal) and I cannot wait for the new airport to open. There are currently ONE dining option open outside of security, a Starbucks. The dining options inside security are abysmal. Sorry for the rant, I’m actually just amazed at how bad things are. T...

Re: West Bottoms Redevelopment
I'm floored by this announcement. Adding 1000 units just WB over a decade! This will be a huge contribution to repopulating the core. Maybe we can get this developer to chip in for the gondola, only half kidding.

Re: KU/KCK <-----> TSC East/West Transit
@GRID @everyone else who said streetcar will have no impact on stadiums. I thought about this some more. We don't necessarily need and probably won't build a system that can move massive amounts to/from a stadium. However, it provides an additional option for those in the core to get to a game. I'm...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Also, I kind of like how KC feels dead, but it's really not dead. It's an EXTREMELY easy city to navigate, park in etc. No other urban area in the country is easier to park in than Kansas City, I mean Wichita maybe lol. Which is why it blows my mind to read comments about parking downtown on social...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
Trust me, if you are from a sizable city, Downtown KC is not going to impress anybody much more than the TSC. Downtown KC has come a long way, but it still has a ways to go. Please don't take that as an insult, I love KC. Despite it being 1000 times better than it was 20 yeas ago, Downtown KC is ju...

No they were coming in on a plane with me. For the series this weekend. Our flight didn't land till 11:00. Harry's would have been smart to tell them, never been to the Quaff.KCPowercat wrote: ↑Thu Apr 28, 2022 11:24 pm What time did that game end?
Quaff, town topics, maybe Harry's? I can't say I've done much 1am Wednesday dining lately

They were staying downtown. Many restaurants open past midnight on a Wednesday? I can't think of many.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
We can get lost in the weeds about what has or hasn't happened in other cities but they are all unique situations that may or may not be applicable to what's going to happen here. My gut says a downtown stadium does raise the floor for attendance. The bump probably would level off somewhat after a f...

Re: Midtown Area Apartment Boom
The Council intervened with the demolition of the Empire Theater / Mainstreet Theater building by Executive Hills. A pre-demolition permit was already approved and issued. The theater also wasn't on the register of historic places, or a locally-landmarked structure. The Council intervened and stopp...

Anyone wanting to get stoned before/during a public event or in a public park is already doing it. This is a non issue. Though we could do ourselves better than naming this after Roy Blunt.

Regarding some of this previous talk about drive vs train time. You should all be praying for center running, dedicated lane, and high degree of signal priority for northland expansion or it will be next to pointless.

Starting wages I see advertised here in food service are abysmal. I was making $11 an hour as a teenager working a dish pit 10 years ago. Crazy seeing the same or lower starting wage for that job 10 years later especially given the inflation of the past year. Then I have to hear my damn parents and ...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to North Kansas City
Any value to going further north than NKC will lay in the ability to develop or redevelop along North Oak in a dense manner. If we can get TOD right up along the line then it’s worth it. Whatever the next project after NKC is in the northland, it should be a modest extension and not all the way to ...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to North Kansas City
Here's the fundamental problem for suburban LRT: You have to drive your car to park at the rail station. That's 10 mins. Then you sit on it as it stops every 2 mins at about 50 stops until finally an hour later you end up in downtown. Then you have to walk or take a streetcar to your exact destinat...
