I'll see if I can find a mobile theme and install it.

Re: Ugh! Upgrade = UGLY

I've installed a theme that looks slightly better, but making things beautiful is precisely not my speciality. I am quite receptive to any style suggestions anyone may have.

Ugh! Upgrade = UGLY

The admin section has been hassling me to update to the latest non-deadly version of the forum's software for a couple months, and I've been putting it off, because it's always a big headache to do so. I updated it tonight, and now the default theme looks like a pair of 78-year-old testicles. I will...

Re: What are downtown KC's best corporate partners?

While boulevard and parisi are certainly valued local companies, I still wouldn't refer to them as, "corporate partners." I think Max is mostly referring to large white-collar employers in the CBD.

Re: Things to do in KC. Check out this list. Feedback?

Just FYI, the Federal Reserve Bank of KC is not a government structure, nor is it a significant government employer. The great majority of the people who work there are either contractors or direct employees of the Bank itself.

What worries me is whether this event will suffer the same fate as most beer fests held in KC: massive lines. I hope they have a plan for that.

Re: beer.

I'm glad Big Rip is there, but it's a part time diversion of its owners. They have day jobs to occupy them, so the operation is much smaller. It's a nice place to hang out though, and on occasion they'll turn out a beer that's really delicious.

Re: I just rebooted the server for patching

Yeah, because of the spamming that comes from the admins having to activate each user, I changed my email address to a nonsense address, so the thousands of activation requests go into the ether, instead of my inbox. That means that attempts to message me through the board will fail. I can be contac...

Re: Found a good place to store photos

I would offer image hosting, but storage is one thing that's at a bit of a premium at the provider I'm using.

Re: I just rebooted the server for patching

Yeah, not sure what's happening with the avatars. I think some relic of the migration has removed a bunch of them. I had to update mine in my profile too. Interestingly though, some of the avatars that are hosted on kcrag dot com still work.

Re: beer.

What I really want to see, and KCBC comes very close, is a bar where everybody sings. It's not implausible in that space. In the hour or so that we spent, we got really comfortable with our neighbors at the long tables. Adding singing to it would be absolutely brilliant. Also, rename the place. Kans...

Re: beer.

I found the beer at KCBC(I kinda refuse to call it by its full lame name) to be absolutely outstanding. Normally German beer has a tinny metallic taste, but not here. The flavor is big, and the beers are fresh and delicious. I hope they scale back the food offerings, as I find that a kitchen in a br...

Re: Google picks KCK/KCMO for ultra fast fiber network

Everything costs something, but the great majority of the work is not in the switch sites or in people's homes. The hard part is/was the cost of laying cable across the entire city. Google's choice to spend some money on upgrading their switches(if that's even necessary) can be rolled out simply, ea...

Re: Google picks KCK/KCMO for ultra fast fiber network

Upgrading KC, once all the fiber is laid, will be trivial by comparison. The fiber they're running all over down can handle far greater than gigabit speeds. A couple devices to swap out, and people would need to get a new device in their homes.

Re: Swagger (8431 Wornall) -- gourmet dive bar

I suppose it could, but its distance from both the craft-drinking hipsters and wealthy suburbanites has always worked against it. They would need to work hard, and continue to do so, to get people to make the trek.
