Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Crisp has very limited upside, is already worse than Teahen, makes a lot of money, and will be a free agent in just two years. Next year for Crisp is an option for around 8 million. Buyout on it is 500,000 dollars, which is 104,000 more than Ramon Ramirez's entire 2008 salary. So it is entirely pos...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Give a man a break on what he has to followup, will ya? I'm at work here! I also like DeJesus, but I don't see a future for him as a centerfielder longer than the next 3 years, and he does have injury concerns. I think his value will never be higher than now, and that this team won't win in the fors...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In order for this to work, where we build around Grienke and Meche, you have to believe that Gordon and Butler are going to be enough, because that's pretty much what you have. There's a possibility that the Volcano becomes Carlos Pena Light. DeJesus may have 2-3 good years in him. That will be a ne...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As I've pointed out before, it's a circular argument on which is more valuable: OBP or Slug. The guys with the higher slugging %, generally have the highest OBP too. Look at the stats leaderboard each year. Pitchers are fearful of pitching to Pujols and not to Tony Pena. So who gets walked mor...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And notably, 85 wins doesn't really excite me. I'd rather play for 95 wins in 4 years by trading guys who will not get us to the playoffs before their careers decline while they still have a minor amount of value.

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't think you blow it all up. Bill James thinks that is some of our young players take strides forward, we have a shot at 85 wins in a wide open Central division. I think that's right too, although it would take a lot of things to bounce our way. If they can improve their defense and get a coup...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If payroll isn't going to increase this year because of excess spending on the draft, and only incrementally from here on out, it will only be enough to keep up with arbitration for our best eligible players. By the time the bad money in Guillen goes off the books we'll have a whole slew of new prob...

Re: North Oak/Vivion project
I think the other streets that grid both south and north of the river are referred to this way as well. Barry and Vivion and the like run east/west and are unique streets, so there's no point in referring to them as "north", even though their place on the grid certainly is there. But I gua...

Re: Voting not allowed in Kansas for homeless
I did read your post and yes you should clarify that. What I stated is what I found on the net on a site for homeless voting which was apparently too liberal in their qualifications for residency. I any event, while it seems unfair, I do not see many ways around it (per Bahua's post). The requir...

Re: Voting not allowed in Kansas for homeless
Apparently you didn't read my original post. According to the election commissioner, Bruce Newby, the homeless are not allowed to vote. They need more than just a mailing address. The address has to be listed as a residence with Wyandotte County's government. I live in a business address and I'm no...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish he walked more just as much as the next fan, but this is a guy who can slug .500 for us and has the ability to hit 31 home runs if given enough at bats. That would be a team record. But frankly we gave up a good but injury prone reliever, dealing from a strength on the team, for a bat that...

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think I've about lost my faith with the Dayton Moore led Kansas City Royals. I tried to give him a fair shot, I really did. I liked several of the trades, mostly those involving acquiring pitchers. I'm still bully on the Odalis Perez deal (what did we lose, really?), the MacDougal trade, the Affel...
