Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments

This is going WAY back, but I think we had nonstop service to Mexico City in the 1970s via Braniff. The only schedule I could find online was from 1979, at which time BI served MCI nonstop from OMA, MSP, DSM, SEA, SAT, DFW, HOU, TUL, OKC, ICT, MSY, ATL, DCA, PHL, LGA, and BOS. Actually a substantial...

The sun belt needs more nuclear reactors. But the lead time is enormous. You cannot meet the base summer load (air conditioning) without the big underlying plants -- currently coal and nuclear.

Re: Layoffs at The Star

^Sad. The KCBJ has reporting covering the engineering firms that differentiate KC and provide thousands of white collar jobs. Yet the "newspaper of record" in KC barely covers the built environment.

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal

Seems the recently announced Delta changes to both lounge access and status might hurt them from initial public feedback and perception. I doubt this will effect Deltas viability overall, but at their medium focus cities (like MCI) where they don’t have a foothold or dominance of the market, I can ...

^TL/DR?

Nobody likes a see-you-next-Tuesday masquerading as a bank teller. That includes anyone who might use the forthcoming Chase Bank at Three Light.

Re: Three Light

Chase Bank has been expanding throughout KC metro rapidly. IIRC we were one of the largest markets for Chase without physical locations. Retail is hard to fill right now, especially new spaces. Yes, it's 'another bank,' but hopefully, a legacy bank like that will stay long term and more filled stor...

It really was a facade-ectomy. I wonder what Clarence Kivett's successors think about it. Of course, besides the interior mezzanine there wasn't much else to this structure besides its interesting facade. His firm eventually went on to do the Truman Sports Complex and the 1970 airport plus my favori...

Re: KCI Flight Schedule Adjustments

The unsaid part of this thread is that trans-oceanic flights and long-hauls flights generally _require_ paid business class seats to justify the routing. Only corporate travel provides enough paid premium revenue to assure the airlines when new destination decisions are made.

FWIW, STL has a historically large Germanic population. My aunt's in-laws -- within living memory -- spoke German at home in St. Louis. Before the riots, large parts of southern St. Louis were populated by German heritage families. German was offered for five years in the better (West County) high s...

^This is not going to be a dead spot, but it may become an unintentional hipster spot.

Look at Post Office Square in Boston. Make it a real urban amenity -- lots of concessionaires. Green space for nearby workers/ hoteliers. This should be a win/ win.

I believe that the majority of PV owners do not want additional multifamily properties except in a few obvious locations (Corinth, perhaps State Line, maybe a re-do of the Jones Store Company building (later Macy's) at 71st/ Mission.) Certainly not in in the "old" 1940-1960 developments ak...

^Maybe Missouri should simply underwrite the re-build of Twin Oaks "Two Dot O" and be done with it. Then it would be a race with Mission Gateway to see how many iterations of the same construction function (retail versus housing) could be built, demolished, and rebuilt on the same land wit...

The analysis quoted above is accurate -- Lufthansa is not going to double dip in Missouri. Delta kind of smacked AA by building its SkyClub here. They could do a Paris flight, but what businesses are left with a continental travel linkage? Marion Labs/ Hoechst/ Roussel Uclaf is kaput in KC. Bayer so...

I am surprised people want to live so close to the mainline KC Terminal Railway tracks. The horn noise of course is audible all over the metro, but these people are close enough to hear the track and bogie noise.

That funeral home was for sale for a long time around 400k IIRC.

The auto dealership land is owned by Conklin Fangman out of Hutch -- purchased from the Major family of Ward Pkwy (Major Cadillac for many years).

Reduce speeds on the Brookside Autobahn Yes, the obvious solution. I cross that signalized intersection in car, on bike and on foot quite often and people are driving way above the posted speed limit. I don't understand why KCMO makes it so difficult to put in speed bumps. It is the easiest and che...

Additionally, he may have been working under the table (and without papers) when he died. He fell into an interior shaft, not exterior. Since his death may not be covered by workers comp, this may complicate any activity on the building for some time -- it could be a straight liability claim, which ...
