Re: OFFICIAL: The Legends at Village West
Any news on the Hard Rock hotel or Menards store supposedly going in out there? Seems like projects move really slow getting developed in that area. Hard Rock Hotels probably figured out that 110th and I-70 would be the most ridiculous location for a hotel like that in their chain and no matter how...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
I don't know if anyone else is thinking this, but I wonder how long the Nordstom will even be there. What happens if they close that location 10 years after rebuilding the parcel? Do they tear it down once again and rebuild? Will this new building be designed to be separated into smaller retail spa...

I think it looks like a neat idea. It would eliminate some drunk driving and I'm all for that.

Triple-A baseball team moving from New Orleans to Wichita in 2020, will reside new riverfront stadium and entertainment district. https://www.ksn.com/news/kansas/triple-a-baseball-will-come-to-wichita-with-new-downtown-stadium/1420173779 Outstanding that it’s triple A too bad it’s the Marlins :) Je...

Re: Fixing the KC Zoo (ongoing)
^ I’d guess that JOCO leaders would require funds go to their area too, like for the Deanna Rose Farmstead. They’re petty like that. They have every right to be "pretty like that." Any bi-state tax should benefit both states. As I recall, previous attempts have failed because the plan was...

Oh good. Next to Sprouts will be a huge draw for the area. After all, they usually only locate next to Sprouts.

Re: OFFICIAL: The Legends at Village West
What a bizarre location for a stand alone hard rock hotel. Please tell me this is not another STAR bonded project. That would probably explain a lot. You can “force” a development to happen when you throw enough money at it. StarBonds in the Legends area have actually worked, though. This isn't lik...

Re: We need a new airport!!!
Almost impossible to tell from these poor initial renderings, but where is the awesome scallop-roof design from the preliminary images? I loved that element, and if we get a generic flat box I'll be very disappointed. I understand perhaps losing the two-story indoor fountain, but first impression i...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
Nichols not only acknowledged the surrounding neighborhoods, he developed them! Everyone knows that the Country Club District was developed by Nichols right? I'm talking about the Ward Parkway area, Loose Park, Brookside etc...some of our city's best neighborhoods. The Plaza was like a town center ...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
^Taubman mentions transitioning retail spaces to more restaurants but that's about it. They need to target much broader than that such as nightlife/cultural venues that target perhaps 40+. Like Highwoods, no mention of a neighborhood surrounding it, which Nichols always acknowledged and partly cate...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
Really though, big props to Town Center off of 119th for continuing to just fleece the Plaza of our premier retail tenants. For the pharphacy lovers, they even have a Walgreens! I don't even think TCP is actively trying to poach tenants. Considering that GAP is falling through, Eddie Bauer is closi...

Re: New Grocer
Just bring back Dillon's already. :D I'm sure there is some part of the deal that Kroger made with Price Chopper that says that Kroger can't build any new stores in JoCo and Price Chopper can't move into Topeka for a certain period of time. Kroger was making no effort to be competitive in JoCo, Jop...

Re: Merriam Hen House closing but Olathe getting one
I'm not surprised. It's between a popular price chopper, a HyVee, and a Natural Grocery. I also believe that the Mission Target, which was a Greatland store, sells produce. There's also a SunFresh to the north and a Neighborhood Market to the south.
