Re: New Elementary School to be built in Rosedale
That is true, STAR bond TIF districts only divert Sales Taxes (both the state and local portions) and not property Tax. So the developments out west cost Wyandotte County's taxpayers nothing (other than their 2 % of the sales tax that didn't exist before the development anyway) and local taxing juri...

Re: Downtown KCK
Healthy campus' is at heart of new downtown KCK master plan We have committed $6 million dollars of the UG's annual gaming revenue from Hollywood Casino to development of new downtown YMCA, Grocery Store, Downtown Streetscaping, etc. And the naysayers on this forum keep trotting out the same old lie...

Re: Downtown KCK
KCK got a pile of federal cash to invest in its downtown. Most of it went into a money-pit hotel Old News. This was built under the KCK city council back in the 90's long before the UG was ever even proposed /considered. The Pitch, or "Bitch" Weekly as I like to call it is a worthless rag...

Re: Historic Old Northeast
Saw on the news East High School was remodeled and just got air conditioning. I was thinking to myself WTF? It is 2013 and these poor kids are barely getting air conditioning at school. KCMO public schools are so F'd up no wonder there is no redevelopment taking place in the old NE. KCK public schoo...

Re: KCK Update
^As the gateway from NE JoCo and I-70 into some of KCK's best inner city neighborhoods with the most potential, I definitely agree with that corner was a poor choice for KCK to allow said store. In the link mgsports originally gave, there's a letter from a nearby property owner who feels exactly th...

Re: KCK Update
I attended the dedication ceremony for the New Downtown KC, KS Metro Center. It is very nice and Minnesota Ave is primed for residential and commercial redevelopment, IMO. Also the almost 100 year old Winkler Clock, fully restored to it's original geared working condition was unveiled and looks beau...

My parents and brothers both got hooked up last week in Alvey Park fiberhood in Kansas city ks. They are just waiting for their in-home appointment now. My parents are just doing the free internet for now and keeping time Warner for tv because my dad says he wants to wait to see if Google works out ...

Re: OFFICIAL: The Legends at Village West
Absolutely mind boggling. "the speedway is the reason Cerner chose village west" haha. try "corporate welfare" is the reason. 90% of KCK looks like shit and the state basically builds Cerner a new campus clear out in BFE to help support all the other subsidized crap out there. B...

Re: Google picks KCK/KCMO for ultra fast fiber network
I just wanted to touch on the effects Google Fiber will have on the competition. In KC, KS alone Google is competing against Time Warner Cable, AT&T U-verse, and WOW! (which serves KC KS west of I-435 although I'm unsure if they are required to serve the entire Piper area or if they only service...
