Keep the billboard over this terrible hotel.

Re: Google picks KCK/KCMO for ultra fast fiber network
The CCI deal includes full cable and whole home dvr and 10 mpbs I think. I am somewhat tempted to switch. Not sure Fiber is worth $600 more a year.

Re: Google picks KCK/KCMO for ultra fast fiber network
Nothing from Surewest, despite my neighborhood qualifying. The CCI merger is killing any chance for them to be nimble and competitive. I keep getting mailers offering TV and internet for about $70 a month. It's not gigabit obviously, but at that price I would be surprised if they aren't picking up ...

It is just such an ugly building it is pretty hard to get too upset about changes.

Re: Oklahoma Joe's rebranding as "Joe's Kansas City"?
I was also disappointed in my list visit to Joes (leawood location). Food wasn't great, and definitely was not worth the line.

Re: Promenade Tower Development
Hard to believe a tear down / rebuild is warranted with a vacant lot one block to the north. it's not hard to believe. this isn't a dictatorship where the government controls what projects happen. the properties have different owners. once wants to sell/change. the other doesn't. How did I forget t...

Re: Oklahoma Joe's rebranding as "Joe's Kansas City"?
Seems like a raw deal for owners of KC locations. They have built the reputation and brand equity and now someone else gets to profit from it.

Re: Oklahoma Joe's rebranding as "Joe's Kansas City"?
More likely the change is because they do not own the rights to the Oklahoma Joe's name nationwide. Look's like the original "Joe" is trying to franchise the concept.

Re: Westport's fate post-P&L
I understand the preservationists guidebook says, "Never paint brick!". I get it. But, how many old growth wood floors are in place today because they were carpeted over? How many plaster crown moldings are in place because of drop ceilings? If this is an architectural gem in 50 years (we...

Re: Westport's fate post-P&L
IDK, I think in this case it might be justified. Looking at the picture, I realize that I never even have noticed the hotel. A more modern, bright exterior probably will draw more people to the hotel. Plus, it's not like its any architectural gem. It's time to kill 1980. I think your post proves th...

Re: Westport's fate post-P&L
The Q is changing color... This reminds me a bit of the 1960s when we covered up all those icky 50 year old buildings only to cherish them later and repair the damage caused during the earlier coverup. In 2030, they will strip this building back down and try to make it look like it did before. I am...

Re: Plumber recommendation?
Holy cow. You can get a really nice toilet for $400, and it can't take a plumber more than an hour of labor to remove old and install new.chrizow wrote:just got an estimate from bob hamilton to replace a toilet for $1,200, or $500 if I supply the toilet.
$1,200 is insane.

Not a good campaign by the pro streetcar side, but very unfortunate this was on same ballot as road tax. Just made it all too confusing.

They might for a while, but the congestion and increased travel time on those routes are going to make paying the toll the best option over time.NDTeve wrote:trucks would use 36 and 50 to avoid tolls. Would clear up traffic on I70 but not raise the money.

Re: Statewide transportation sales tax coming in 2014
Why does everyone assume tolls or an increased gas tax are not viable? It's because the trucking industry lobbyists are planting that seed and the media is spreading it. Let's put all three options on the same ballot and see which wins.

Re: Statewide transportation sales tax coming in 2014
No What is your reasoning? I'm yes due to what Dave has laid out and to have statewide tax fund transit is pretty sweet. The tax is unfair. Trucks pay zero, and they are a major user and abuser of roads. It would be great to be able to fund all these side projects but first and foremost this tax is...
