Re: World Cup 2026 at Arrowhead?

IIRC the new complex just built in the northland was whispered about as being a possible training location. There's just about nothing else around it, but it's got plenty of real estate to be sure (and Garmin out in Olathe).

Re: New Chiefs Stadium

I don't get the feeling they want to expand the footprint? I feel like they'll do something with the former K footprint though. If you've ever been down below the stadiums, the two are connected via underground tunnel. I'm curious to see how they'll maintain access to Arrowhead while demolishing th...

Re: New Chiefs Stadium

Who owns the wooded land just south of TSC bordering Raytown rd anyone know? Acquiring that land would probably put the site at over 500 acres! According to parcel viewer it's Jackson County who owns everything south of the complex down to Raytown Rd. Adding up the acreage comes to right around 117...

Re: NFL Draft

Alternatively I wonder if they could push the stage all the way back similar to where the Royals stage was but suspend some of the heavy A/V equipment from the building itself instead of putting all the weight into the surface lot structure. Again, I'm no engineer but it sure would be a bummer if th...

Re: NFL Draft

where is the weight requirement that US can't meet? This. Half a million people can gather for a World Series parade but we can't hold the draft there? That stage was nothing compared to the NFL Draft stage. Maybe 1/10th of the weight. Fair enough, I'm sure there's a lot more screens and extras for...

Re: Kindler Hotel (1110 Grand)

It's important to take any little piece we can get- this space is gonna have a much better ground floor retail space as well. Do we even have any neatly tucked away hotels like this? Right across the street is the Ambassador hotel with 113 rooms even after an expansion to that many. Before it had 4...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

If they do end up putting this thing in the Crossroads they had better SEAMLESSLY integrate it into the existing fabric - which will likely cost a ton of money. It can be done right but I think it would be a massive longshot to be pulled off. If it was pulled off though I feel like it could be an ic...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

I'm still not quite understanding the acceptance that 3-5 blocks is some uncrossable great divide. If we concede that then downtown KC will never be what it should be. A project of this magnitude is a rare opportunity to reshape perceptions and (IMO) we shouldn't just plunk it down as close to Main ...

I guess that's on me for thinking that downtown KC extended south past Truman Rd.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Hey I'm not getting upset. Dismiss the IRS site because it'll cost way too much and be way too difficult to pull off (it would on both) but don't dismiss it because it's not within walking distance of PNL. Your bias has been clear for quite some time. I, for one, weigh much more heavily the impact o...

So if it isn't within 3 blocks of PNL then it's not worth doing? Got it.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Did you really just equate a site less than a quarter mile from a major streetcar stop (and right across the street from what could possibly be a major regional transportation hub) to the TSC as far as access to river market, PNL, and crossroads?

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

IRS site would have great outfield views but misses on almost every other factor needed to make it a win. Future downtown soccer maybe? What factors would that be? The timeline would be pushed back by a few years which is an obvious drawback but with the proper planning access off of I-35 could be ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Somebody mentioned the IRS facility a few pages ago and I just had an insane thought that I wanted to throw out: build the IRS a brand new processing facility in EV and then a stadium at Pershing/Pennway (as long as the old post office doesn't get touched). The views are absolutely some of the best ...

Working in Q's favor is that if I'm recalling correctly there's only been one mayor since term limits were enacted who didn't win a second term, and say what you want about Lucas but he's not nearly the disaster that Funk was.

Re: OFFICIAL - New KCI Terminal

I think this design could add 7 more gates to the end of Concourse A but beyond that KCI is probably looking at a second terminal. To be fair that's an 18% increase on the current 38 gates. I'm sure once this project is done there will be another long term plan made at some point but I think a seco...

Re: OFFICIAL - Main Street Streetcar Extension

Also isn't the longest stretch between stops on the whole line, save for going over the train tracks and north loop, only 4 blocks? Even with the somewhat pedestrian-hostile stretch of Main through midtown I'm not sure it's worth running a bus so people only have to walk one block from a stop instea...
