Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project
Don't forget it is also home to 2 golf courses. One of those, Swope Memorial, is one of the nicest and best-designed and best deals in KC or anywhere else, for that matter. Four!

Re: New Bluestem Concept
i seriously doubt there is a shopping center north of 435 that is courting CG/bluestem with incentives. it's all the half-empty wannabe Scottsdale strip malls south of 435 that are in desperate need of big name ventures to keep them from sinking. I'm pretty sure there is not one commercial developm...

Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project
I disagree. I go to that park everyday and I think it's nice open green space very close to the river, and the new underpass takes you right to the river. And if you want, you can take 30 or 40 steps from the sidewalk at any point and be in the river. And I think the trees have matured nicely and se...

Re: 900 Baltimore Ave.
Jones co-owns the Hobbs Building and was one of the people behind Ripple Glass. He also rehabbed a historic hotel in Boonville, MO Sounds like just the guy to rehab this property, provided he has enough capital. Adam has done many buildings, including the Carnival Bldg. on Broadway, which he sold f...

Re: 900 Baltimore Ave.
It's too bad that we have to write laws to keep owners/developers from letting historic structures rot to the point of no repair. Should be common sense and common courtesy.

Re: 900 Baltimore Ave.
I will try to swing by there soon. Fang, we are probably too late to save this structure. I like your idea for a new ordinance addressing this concern. It is very unlikely any council person will take the initiative to write one. If you're interested, I'd be willing to help draft one with you and ga...

Re: 900 Baltimore Ave.
Just curious. Is this a case of the paper not reporting correctly? Given when the building was erected (1881) it is very likely that the brickwork is not just a facade but is actually part of the structure, in other words a true brick building. If that is the case then the building may actually ...

I am having my lawyer look into possible trademark infringements here. I expect a major lawsuit which I hope will result in free taxis for all.

Re: New coffee shop opening across from Happy Gillis
If I'm not mistaken, KC's parking requirements stem from ordinances created in 1959. They are completely ridiculous. What's worse is that they have not been modified. An excellent example is that a restaurant requires less parking per sq. ft. than an establishment of the same size that holds a liquo...

Re: New coffee shop opening across from Happy Gillis
I wasn't aware about the additional parking/re-zoning. Regardless, that deal would be between the owners and GJ, not a new renter, unless it was part of the lease. So we disagree about the rest. I know you're informed and probably know the guy better than I do. 3rd Fridays still go on, seasonally. N...

Re: New coffee shop opening across from Happy Gillis
Just because a new business goes into a place where your previous business made a deal with a neighbor, that does not mean that a new business is bound by the deal you made. It's a new deal, and there was never a new deal. Please give me one example of something he has done to bring the area back to...

Blue Grotto. They're not really that cool, but the doors are from the Nelson, and they're cool.
