Re: Westport's fate post-P&L
Snipping the thread here for one comment. I saw some Facebook chatter regarding Ca Va, today: "If Cava has to close because the city can't keep up with the times..." Anyone know a rumor about this bar closing? Gotta assume its parking-related.

Is yoga 'whiter' than sitting around the internet and getting excited about which fast food corp has decided to plunk down a franchise in their giant suburban city? No.

Re: Why is there so many NIMBYs in KC?
What is YFC? Oh, youthfront- well, no and this is a false choice. ...nice to see that one year later and my presumptions were correct. My NIMBYISM has borne fruit- the first phase of the Woodside expansion has made a shitshow out of Rainbow from 46th to 47th. There's two stoplights within a block an...

Thanks, didn't know about that site.
What's a decent rhythm section in town? I need to hear some live drums.

http://toomuchrock.com I noticed a photographer at last night's Bad Ideas show was Sid from this website; a place for good video & astute reviews at a steady routine pace. Videos are likely outmoding writing about music in terms of importance to a community. Video is better for the musicians &am...

Re: Liquor License Changes
[quote="PumpkinStalker" Both of these are the examples used in the discussion when the ordinance was passed. The West Bottoms was identified as an area where a majority owner was the sole denier of new licensees coming online. My money bets that its Monty, owner of the haunted houses and ...

Can anyone link to a story, essay, recollection of the Startup Village experience? Its a fascinating concept, curious to know more. I'm not in Tech and couldn't find a way to utilize the place. I thought the day fees were too high

Re: Kansas City Music
Current KC act Scammers has a similarly lush-sounding electronic LP using fake orchestras:

So far, the best-looking LP cover of the year is this one for Deathly Hollow.
You can catch him this coming Tuesday night @ The Ship, Raggers

Alright, this is a favorite release of 2016. Former KC act now in Los Angeles making soundtracks,

Imagine a PlayStation 1 game about Dead Can Dance, you gotta get the band to the venue on time. No stateside release

Are you serious that the neighborhood folks forced them out? I could see something like that happening in Olathe but not Midtown KC. There is actually a person at my work who are telling her kids to sit out of Yoga during gym class because of its religious foundation I call bullshit (on the Bikrahm...

Re: wtf is happening to w. 39th?!
It sounds more like a landlord decision. It's pretty unusual a neighborhood would force a tenant to relocate, unless there were noise or related issues, not ladies sweating. Unless they have a new landlord, I'd be a little surprised that they didn't figure it out during initial negotiations. Or may...

Re: KC in TV and Movies
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWDvlekoPkg&app=desktop ...this thread title is lacking Videos. Probably because its a too contemporary medium. It suits KC just fine. Artists, move to Brooklyn to be heard and your friends back home will still work for free... just not for the length of a feature...

Re: wtf is happening to w. 39th?!
[rimg][/rimg]The record store at 39th & Wyoming, Vinyl Renaissance, has closed. They might've moved? Cold staff, too much space. The space issue seems to be addressed by the landlord- a glance indoors shows new sheetrock dividing off the garage-windowed side facing Wyoming. Also, a Goth-esque bo...
