Re: OFFICIAL - Reverb (1800 Walnut)
If we're talking multifamily, my top local 3 right now would probably be: 1) Helix - A chameleon on design but plenty of urban multifamily experience. 2) HOK* 3) Hufft - They're just starting to get into multifamily, but everything else they do is very well done. * - Not headquartered here but was o...

Re: COVID19
Oh come on, please don't tell me you feel one party is to blame for the racial situation and tensions in this country? I'm talking historically, not just this year. This thread has veered back and forth, but it's easier to talk politics in here than on social media where the name calling happens in...

While I think Manica does nice tenant improvement stuff like this bar, for wholesale building design there’s a lot of other local firms I’d suggest before them.

Re: Lamp Post District - Mission, KS
It’s a pretty bad rendering. I’m sure the final product will look distinctly better, even if the actual design doesn’t change.

The Nichols family supports renaming the fountain. You’d think that would seal the deal.

David Hawley and his dull museum are back to openly pontificate on if they should leave KC. I feel like he does this every 9-12 months?

Was in the area this evening, the Locale apartment complex ("Lojo" according to some of the signage  ) has turned out rather nice: https://i.imgur.com/jBYPXvR.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Im34AHD.jpg https://i.imgur.com/TxAypy0.jpg https://i.imgur.com/oobOrXS.jpg https://i.imgur.com/tOlgY...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
^Is Nichols Rd and other Plaza streets a private street? Good point on parking challenges. Does The City have any powers to set parameters for a private sale. For any garages that had public aid seems likely, but what about others. AFAIK, the plaza streets are not private, but someone else may know...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
I’d agree multiple owners is likely to be a net positive IF the city has its act together and, in tandem with a splintering, codifies much of what makes the plaza a good urban space. The general plaza area has more than 30 owners (it and the few blocks around it). There's tons of competition today ...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
Breaking the plaza apart also presents some challenges. Relative to things people talk about on here, there’s two big ones: - More owners creates more headaches for trying to covert Nichols Rd to a pedestrian mall - Most importantly it splinters parking; eventually some individual owners are going t...

Re: 1650 Broadway
The tower looks like an office building with balconies. Boring! As a result of COVID, there’s a been a renewed focus on providing outdoor spaces and operable windows on towers. Get ready for more of this moving forward. There’s a few design decisions here that seem a little odd but overall love it....

Yep mall was torn down in 2006, the gateway was announced in 2005.
At this point they might have to yank back out all the rebar and concrete work done for those apartments and start over. Can’t just leave that sitting for years like they’ve done. What a shame.

Re: Restoration of City Control Over KCPD
How was the council making this another election? This was generanl municipal election, not a city election. Just in Clay County there were 32 municipalities/districts with a ballot item yesterday. The majority of citizens live south of the river which you yourself answer when you say: The problem ...

Re: Restoration of City Control Over KCPD
The campaign against this was damn near invisible to a normal person. Was there even one? Blame also falls on the governor for resisting mail in voting and the council for making it yet another election people had to go to in a presidential year. They knew what they were doing. How does a KCFD tax i...
