Re: KCMO: The glamour & the grit :: let Vivaldi show us the way

thanks gladstonin' & Roanoker... Roanoker...i was apprehensive about posting that one photo because it's so obviously photoshopped. a lot of the shots I took in the west bottoms facing westward came out with messed up skies due to the sun setting. If I had been really ambitious, i would have return...

Re: KC visit in October '05

i'm glad the rent-a-cops didn't give you guff about photographing union station. they've been known to in the past... And *I'm* glad I didn't know that! Since I was also taking many pictures of my two grown sons, husband, daughter-in-law, and three-year-old grandson, I suppose I didn't fit any of t...

Here are a few more pics from the same trip to KC. See how the new reflects the old. http://my.opera.com/Roanoker/homes/albums/58623/102OldAndNew.jpg Inside Union Station. I remember when this giant room was filled with lots and lots of people, listening for the announcement that their trains were r...

Thanks everyone http://images.skyscraperpage.com/images/smilies/notacrook.gif I hope people enjoy the pics as much as I enjoy taking them and editing them. And speaking of editing, everyone can feel free to offer their honest opinions on my photoshopping methods for this thread. I'd be curious to h...

Here are a few photos I snapped while visiting family in KC last October. And here are a few more. Roanoker, If your avatar is a picture of you, you look like a lot like someone I knew in NKC back in the '70s. Name was Peggy.  Might that be you?  Please forgive me if I'm making some terrible mistake. missingKC~ No problem. But I'm not Peggy. I did live north of the river and even worked in NKC m...

Re: Religious Groups of the USA - (map)

StL city and sorrounding counties look to be predominately Catholic indeed: http://www.valpo.edu/geomet/pics/geo200/religion/church_bodies.gif I was surprised by how heavily California was represented by Catholicism. Then it dawned on me that California is heavily Hispanic. It would be interesting ...

PowerBooks rule! I just got a MacBook Pro two weeks ago.    8) I will miss that kidney...  :( Do you use Safari to get to this web site? It wouldn't work on the forum for me. I downloaded the free browser, Opera, and that *does* work. The Opera Community allows you to use up to 300MB for free, so i...

Re: A Great Day to go "Walkies" (04/01/2006)

http://www.syphon.com/personal/scott/pix/060401/DCFC0039.jpg This one reminds me of art classes, where we had to draw straight lines, like spokes in a wheel, all converging into a vanishing point. Then we'd draw in the buildings and whatever else. You can see where the vanishing point should be in ...

It's okay, guys. (didn't mean to stir up nuttin.) All the different styles are welcome. I've lived so long, what I learned in school back in the stone age isn't relevant anymore. So I'm having to learn all over again. New words are welcome, too. In my profession (IT), I've observed that speed can be...

Re: Cameras

To photo buffs on this website I am looking to replace my digital camera, a Kodak Easy Share DX634 (which I received with purchase of my computer) with a better top line Cannon etc....  It takes decent photos but inferior to what I can get on my film camera.  I would like something with a variable ...

I can't believe people actually want an email about PM anyways but that's beside the issue. I suppose other, getting-to-know-the-site surface lots like me will need the email notifications for a while, sort of like a security blanket. (lips pressed together and twisted to the side--couldn't find re...

Spellchecker and Google

The forum's spellchecker doesn't recognize "Google" as a valid word. Oh, well. Who has time to spellcheck, anyway?  :)

The suggested replacement words are fun to view.

Thanks, Kard. I checked the Google option. I see you need to download the application, free or otherwise. The satellite images are supposed to be no older than 3 years. Sounds good.

Interesting site. Entered a few addresses and noticed how old the arial shots were. How often are they updated and by what criteria?
