Tosspot's Dream Computer

Schugg~

Your house is beautiful! And I like your dog. He reminds me of the movie, The Incredible Journey, where three pets make their way back home. The 1963 movie features the same breed.

Tosspot's Dream Computer

It does it for me on both my desktop Dell and laptop Toshiba. I recall your saying you wanted to get a Mac. If you do, please report back on your opinion of it. I use a PowerBook G4 and switch back and forth between browsers Safari and Opera to capitalize on their strengths and avoid their weakness...

Re: Dating a Lady from Olathe

I'm four years older than my husband, and we just celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. I guess it's working out okay.  :) I remember a movie years back called "40 Carats," where the woman was 40 and her lover was in his 20s. (I really should rent and view it before posting here, but wh...

This is somebody's pet in Kansas City! Don't know whose. Saw him "driving," so I took his picture.

it will be difficult to narrow these down to ten. They are all good. I wondered about your vantage point in some of the photos. It was as if you were floating ten or twenty feet above the ground. Nice job.

I'm still going through labor pains, trying to upload selected pictures from the October trip. Here are five more. This is the glass-enclosed pedestrian walkway from the outside. http://my.opera.com/Roanoker/homes/albums/58623/154GlassOverpass2.jpg I'll bet this "deodorant stick" building ...

Re: origins of MO and KS liquor laws

I moved from KCMO to Virginia seven years ago. When I went to the grocery store to get ingredients for some recipe, I learned that I could not buy bourbon at that place. (Yeah, it was an ingredient.) I could get wine or beer, but not other types of liquor. Then I learned that the state--excuse me, c...

Here are a few more pictures from the October trip. All four focus on Union Station. http://my.opera.com/Roanoker/homes/albums/58623/142Clock2.jpg The real picture is the right half. I copied and flipped it so it would fit in a 4:3 frame. http://my.opera.com/Roanoker/homes/albums/58623/143Column2.jp...

Re: Are we really the city of fountains?

I was born in Kansas City in 1943 and lived there until seven years ago. From my early childhood I understood that Kansas City had more fountains than any city in the world. It was never disputed. Personally, right or wrong, I consider "Kansas City" as covering the entire metro area, inclu...

"http://netdb.unl.edu/westside/detail.cfm?id=5426" is not a link to a picture. It's a webpage. Let's see if this works: http://netdb.unl.edu/historyimg/woodmenfirstnational.jpg Okay, it does. JJack, you need to right-click (or ctrl-click for a Mac) on the image on that web page (if that's...

Re: KC visit in October '05

Nice pictures! Just chiming in about Union Station.... I was there about a month ago and took some pictures, the rent-a-cops seen me and didn't say a word about it so who knows. Maybe one particular individual takes it upon himself to be the photography police  Thanks! Another thing about the...

Re: KCMO: The glamour & the grit :: let Vivaldi show us the way

thanks gladstonin' & Roanoker... Roanoker...i was apprehensive about posting that one photo because it's so obviously photoshopped. a lot of the shots I took in the west bottoms facing westward came out with messed up skies due to the sun setting. If I had been really ambitious, i would have re...

i'm glad the rent-a-cops didn't give you guff about photographing union station. they've been known to in the past... And *I'm* glad I didn't know that! Since I was also taking many pictures of my two grown sons, husband, daughter-in-law, and three-year-old grandson, I suppose I didn't fit any of t...

Thanks everyone http://images.skyscraperpage.com/images/smilies/notacrook.gif I hope people enjoy the pics as much as I enjoy taking them and editing them. And speaking of editing, everyone can feel free to offer their honest opinions on my photoshopping methods for this thread. I'd be curious to h...

Name was Peggy.  Might that be you?  Please forgive me if I'm making some terrible mistake. missingKC~ No problem. But I'm not Peggy. I did live north of the river and even worked in NKC m...
