Re: Tracks 215 Project

Superior is officially out of their Crossroads address (from Metro Media Wire email): Copaken Brooks recently announced Superior Moving & Storage, a family-owned, local business since 1914, is moving to Downtown Business Park at 3177 Mercier in Kansas City, Mo. The company started leasing the 86,363...

just need to do something on the CM parking lot and City Diner Demolishing the City Diner is pretty low priority compared to filling the neighborhood's plentiful surface lots There are attached surface lots on both sides of these two buildings. Don't expect those to go away without the buildings th...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

A new procurement for the extension vehicles, spec'd very similarly. The shortening of the riverfront extension requires no new vehicles.

Blows my mind that by the time the new ones arrive, the first four will be over 10 years old!

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

How far does this get us? https://www.kshb.com/news/local-news/kc-streetcar-gets-federal-approval-for-main-street-extension The final federal step -- the actual grant -- is still outstanding and still scheduled for early 2021. City could order vehicles if the Council wanted to (we ordered Prospect ...

If this doesn't cause another outbreak in KC or STL, I'll drink lake water.

Is that different from previous concepts? I recall the alignment following River Front Road in an off-street alignment.
Yes, base of the bridge to keep the cost down.

I assume that's why they added the 4' buffer and the spaces themselves are 9' wide.

College Boulevard Road Diet

Can't believe this actually happened. Metcalf to Nall resurfaced and striped to four lanes instead of six, with on-street parking added. https://www.opkansas.org/newsroom/college-boulevard-going-on-a-diet-in-2020/ https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EYzliNZXgAEh6Fc?format=jpg&name=medium https://pbs.twimg.c...

Any ridership numbers release for the last few months? I imagine they’re down significantly, but a visual comparison might help to show just how much.

May is rebounding, but those numbers haven't been released yet.

KC Core Application 2020: 2024 opening Current proposal terminates west of Union and has a pricetag around ~$20 million. Developer have signed LOIs agreeing to pay $600k+ more per year if streetcar is built. Report appears to have inconsistencies between sections and between graphics and supporting...

Best Local Trails

Since the lockdown began, we've been spending a lot more time on trails. Just walking/hiking. What are your favorites? Here are some that we've done: - Landahl Park Bike Trails (dirt, great for hiking, our favorite so far), Blue Springs - Bonebender Trail (flat, paved, not a lot of shade), Smithvill...

Dubliner outside tables were packed last night.

These tables need some ambiance like a plant or umbrellas.
Didn't bother me. With our varying weather, I don't blame them for keeping it minimal.

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

Reopening Walnut is a great idea. Is there any chance of the city bringing back Main between 3rd and 5th? I think that’s very unlikely - especially with a development coming at 5th & Main It's possible due to some -- ahem -- staffing changes at City Market and Public Works. Even if that doesn't hap...

Re: Saxon at the Midland (formerly Midland Office Building)

I believe the annual awards are competitive? I know each session the legislature tries to gut the progr...
