Old Faxon school for sale

The old Faxon School at 37th and Paseo is back on the market. It's been privately owned since 2008, when the KCMSD sold it for $76,000. Last year the rumored asking price was $350k. Now it's $435k. So... yeah. As far as I know, nothing has been done on the property for several years. So the new wind...

Not really. It's a driver safety/public safety issue. It's along the same lines as the signage requirements in the ADA.

Re: Kansas, Missouri battle over companies

Propagating the fallacy that there is a "winner" lends legitimacy to the whole fiasco. Please stop. Not really. Saying that Missouri wouldn't call a truce if they were the ones draining the jobs from Kansas (instead of calling it "winning") doesn't make the statement any more or less true. Don't ge...

Re: Kansas, Missouri battle over companies

The Yael editorial makes the great point as to why Kansas isn't offering these incredible deals to lure companies OUTSIDE of Kansas City. What about Omaha, Des Moines, St Louis...anywhere?? Are they too lazy? Must be just too easy to drive across town "heard so-and-so's lease is up." Maybe the truc...

The rationale for the federal change is explained here (second question): http://www.achdidaho.org/departments/PR/RoadWizard/Entries.aspx?MID=177 And the story of the design is here: http://thehardestyear.com/2009/07/signs-of-change-how-a-new-font-called-clearview-is-changing-americas-highways/ It d...

Re: O.CO Coliseum

I've only seen it on tv, but the outfield wall configuration make it look deserted, even when there are 20-30k there. Note to stadium designers: if there are no fans visible in camera shots of the outfielders, you have screwed up. The best renovations in the last 15 years have involved putting seats...

Re: Kansas, Missouri battle over companies

Proposed Brownback tax proposal passes the House. It would lower income tax, sales tax, eliminate income taxes for small businesses. It would cut deductions for adoption expenses, day care, and access for the disable. Business incentives aren't touched. Sorry kids! I heard about that and it made me...

Re: Westboro Baptist Church

Is there any possibility of their movement dying when the older members of the clan die out/become incapacitated or do you think the younger ones are brainwashed too? One of the kids (or a younger relative) calls into 96.5 every so often and has good natured (but circular) arguments with the mornin...

At least UMKC has options. UMSL would have to get creative to rename itself, with SLU being pretty well established nationally. Perhaps they could look to the Famous Missourians Hall of Fame for inspiration.

Re: I hate KCMO's new street signs

Recently, KCMO started replacing their street signs for no particular reason. The old style was easy to read because it was in capital letters. The new format is not, so it's more difficult to read. The lower case letters are easier to for me to read. That said, I agree that this is a curious use o...

both are based on the analysis of a computer program called i-Tree. Because of course it's called i-Tree. new ReStart facility on Troost?

"Recently, residents of Center City, Squier Park and Hyde Park attended a meeting with Evie Craig of ReStart and Diane Botwin to discuss a subsidized apartment complex for ind...
