Re: Renovations of apartment buildings along Armour Blvd.

It would have been nice if the glass were recessed and there was balcony space under the arches. It would have been more in character with the vintage low rise buildings on the stretch.

Pershing is the most European like boulevard in town with its monumental stone buildings and master planned Crown Center. These buildings give the vast space an eastern terminus view.

Love the double reflection of the KCPL on Loews. It looks like W&R might be a little longer east-west than Loews is ?

Re: Bryant Building

When the Sydney's chain existed they had a grille on the Petticoat Lane side. The architect of One KC Place liked Bryant so much he used 2 halves of it's profile with the profile of City Hall stuck in between all in glass for the design.

Re: 4711 Belleview

Looks like the reason for the garage holes on Belleview is that they are using the slope of the street to access different levels of the garage. Less internal ramp needed, more spaces created. Facade reminds me of something built in Miami a century ago.

They have planting beds right next to the walls. Ivy would not only look good but would help cool the building. Boston ivy is something more evergreen but Virginia creeper in autumn colors would be nice.

Re: Renovations of apartment buildings along Armour Blvd.

The apartment building going up across the street from the Newbern is showing a really large footprint in comparison to the historic bldngs. It is going to be the fat sister.

The wall of plastic greenery on Main seems sorta tacky. A few years of freeze-thaw and UV rays will "kill" it.

Vertical glass planks being installed on ground and first floor of old Midwest Hotel. Reminiscent of Bloch @ Nelson-Atkins.
