She's the muse of the river, not the state. "The Muse of the Missouri." Monument to a Kemper killed in WW II.

Re: "Flashcube" Building - 720 Main

That has to be a rare image. It must have been razed at about the same time as the old Board of Trade. The north loop could have been a 19th century brick historic district.

Re: Uptown Shoppes

Just how much of the strip center is going down? Seems weird that any of a 60 year old strip mall would be worth saving. What's worth saving is peeking over the roof of the strip mall in the photo--the Knickerbockers.

Re: St. Louis/CWE studio gang skyscraper proposal

The west side would have spectacular views over Forest Park to the Clayton skyline. The east must have good DT views above the 12th floor. I would like to see a photo of this from downtown and from the area around Grand.

Aren't people saying Strata's floors are small at around 16,000 SQ FT? I thought places like KC Place, and the other big 3 on 12th had at least 25,000 SQ FT.

Re: Poll: Does the Plaza need a drastic change, some change or on the right path?

Originally plans were to have an actual plaza on the Plaza somewhere in the vicinity of this block. Having a plaza might be easier to happen than making an auto street a pedestrian street, at least in autocentric KC. Am entire block openspace would be overkill here. How about clearing the block? Of ...

Re: 14th and Wyandotte Tower

Isn't this where some time ago some one was proposing an office building with a giant Tesla coil on top? Resurrecting the coil would be cool but I would guess that residents of the P&L Bldng might not enjoy living next to lightning bolts. It seems like a small footprint for such a major building. Wi...

A rooftop restaurant would be nice after all the others in town are long gone.

Re: Poll: Does the Plaza need a drastic change, some change or on the right path?

The scale of the Plaza retail district Spanish-ish buildings is very carefully designed. It is like Disney's Main St. The theme of mostly 2 floor buildings with towers as landmarks is what gives the district the scale and charm that attracts people. There is plenty of residential density (and gettin...

This is tremendous. I had to take a feral cat that I captured in a squirrel trap to the old facility and it was a Dickensian horror.

Re: Capping the Loop

I would like to see the capped block between Grand and Walnut designed to serve as an alternate to closing off Grand to traffic. Virtually all European cities and towns have a square, place, platz, or piazza. These spaces, surrounded by buildings, are not landscaped but paved with hard surface. They...

This would make sense between Troost and Prospect, but this is centered on Main. The steetcar coming down Main is all the incentive this area needs to get redevelopment going.

Did not know that argyle is patterned with interlocking diamonds. I can confuse argyle and harlequin. The rooftop erection I am talking about is not shown in that rendering. I am not talking about the stairwell top which is not a low angle. This has the inline of a low ramp. This construction extend...

Re: Hospital Hill activity

The glass under the cantilevered end is an argyle pattern. The rooftop is a puzzlement. What would usually be something level to hide mechanicals(as at H&R Block or Loew's) here is sloping upwards toward the east at a low angle.

Whats going to happen to the little dog poo park? Who owns it currently? I cannot imagine it remaining open during construction.
