Re: Generic ongoing KCATA thread
And that’s why our public infrastructure lags behind public transit systems in most of the developed world. Highways have received the lions share of public funding to the detriment of our rail systems. The difference between the US and European systems are embarrassing.

Re: Rankings, lists, and such
I’m confused. Our metro is well over 1 million but we are classified as mid-sized (under 1million) in this report? Happy to be mentioned but gives the wrong info demographically.

Re: Muehlebach Hotel / KC Club Project
I agree-beautiful! Now if we could get more of the historic building owners to do something similar our already attractive skyline would look even better. Whichever firm did their lighting is really good. Oh to see Oak Tower restored & lit in this way vs. it’s current ugly visual state.

Re: Freight House Podium Project - 20th and Walnut
I disagree. Unlike Two Pershing Square, this development doesn’t block the tracks that could be used for a real passenger platform with multiple tracks and entry through the traditional station gates. Not that we have a need right now with the paltry train service in this country. Just hoping that w...

Re: Misc Crossroads News
I second that opinion. A great step in tying the Crossroads into Union Station/Crown Center. Now to use the Washington Park/Blue Cross building site proposals to tighten the link. Did I notice a streetcar stop in front of the proposed 18 floor office tower? Is this just wishful thinking by the devel...

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??
Or find a way to cover the tracks like St. Louis did by the arch. Could be a great public works project to address the current jobs situation. Probably will have to wait for a federal administration that really does want to do a national infrastructure program.

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??
I love this idea though I know there are probably numerous hurdles to jump to do that. As muddy & junky as that river can be it’s still the main reason this city exists today. Major cities around the world have not abandoned their river fronts and we need to re-connect with ours at the original site...

That demographic would be angry old people that scream “socialism” in one breath & then scream “keep your hands off my Medicare & SOCIAL Security”. If they really don’t want to participate in socialism they should refrain from using those programs along with using the police, firefighters, governmen...

Agreed but I’ll take anything within walking distance of the downtown core. Hopefully this would lead to more investment in sites closer to Nieman & Johnson Drive, kind of like the developments in downtown OP.

Re: Shawnee is in here
Not surprised by the NIMBYS-I live in Shawnee and there’s an influential group of “good ole boys” (& gals) that are against anything that pulls Shawnee into the present. I’m totally surprised that the downtown Nieman Road project through downtown Shawnee was accomplished. Downtown Shawnee needs this...

Re: 1650 Broadway
Great plan with excellent freeway exposure potential. Who wouldn’t want their business, hotel to get the kind of views from the highway? I don’t know the exact traffic count on I-35 but it has to be substantial. This could really spur the further development of the Broadway corridor on down the hill...

Glad they saved a few of the larger trees along the street-just hope construction didn’t doom them in the long run.

Re: 13th and Grand tower
I’d like this plan much more if it anchored a 60 floor tower-looks like a waste of one of the most important core blocks in the downtown loop. Anybody have a connection to Copaken to plead that case? Or at least be built to accommodate an additional tower of that size? Of course that’s how the UMB B...

Re: Fantasy Retrofits: Barney Allis Plaza
I’d like to see both the CAP & BAP completed in the near future. If I had to choose I’d choose the CAP to solidify the streetcar line, tie the Crossroads better to the Loop & further energize the connection between the convention & P&L districts. The CAP would provide impetus for 3 & 4 Lights and en...

It would be cool if the building owners would use some lighting to make it stand out at night. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen it’s exterior lighted. Maybe there are archived photos with some kind of original exterior lighting?

Re: COVID19
If you’re going to do an apples to apples comparison you need to compare the number of deaths for each disease state over the same period of time. The influenza deaths reported are over an entire season, thus the 2019-2020 time period. The current death total from Covid19 is only over a 7-8 week per...

Arizona would be a big blue pickup & could be helped by the Senate race with Mark Kelly (Gabbie Giffords husband) running in that race. Running against a female that was nominated for the seat when McCain died.

Thanks for enlightening me. Anyone know if the Calverts parcel has anything going on? I know it was for sale for around $1m at one time. A crucial location along the streetcar line being way underutilized.
