Re: proposed Valentine QuickTrip
Not a good use of that land-the intersection is already a mess w/o QT there-and I love me some QT. I like the Zurich plan.

Re: OFFICIAL - KC Star Printing Press
The stadium proposal that incorporated apartments/condos around it in the East Village could help to enliven the “dead zone” experience cited. Smartly tying it into a corridor stretching from the convention center through the P&L and T-Mobile Center would help. The now two blocks north and east of t...

Re: Americo Plaza Tower (Former Holiday Inn)
The proposed tower would fit in nicely with the cluster of high rises already there. The Main Street extension of the streetcar is probably a prime reason for this newest proposal. The increased development activity along the extension will likely grow as we get a handle on COVID and the economy rev...

Re: Fixing the KC Zoo (ongoing)
Each facility caters to different situations. Sea Life is a smaller, Crown Center visit situation, while the new aquarium will generally be part of a longer visit to the zoo. Many zoo visitors make it a full day experience, though many with member passes do make smaller partial visits. Sea Life has ...

Re: Postcards From the Edge of Time
I’d like to put the Emery, Bird, Thayer department store on the same level as the old Board of Trade for major losses, and the old City Hall-probably a pretty long list of major losses over time.

Re: 5th and Main (Northwest Corner)
I agree with letting the market (no pun intended) determine what height works for the River Market area. The only real restriction should be safety restrictions to height due to their proximity to Wheeler Downtown Airport. Anyone know what those are, if any? The more density in that area the greater...

Re: 5th and Main (Northwest Corner)
I agree with the analysis of the two proposals. The RM needs density to support the market and other businesses in the area. I really like the parking entrance/exit to not be on 5th St as well. There’s enough congestion on 5th St on busy market days and we should be striving to minimize the slowdown...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
Hopefully it could mean a riverfront extension as originally envisioned, going east to near the Bond bridge. Or some kind of terminus from the riverfront to a crossing to NKC and a north route in the near future.

Re: Politics
Trump has had lots of visible, loud supporters during the last 4 years and continues to draw the faithful. However, beyond the cult followers that would still support him if he shot someone on 5th Ave there are overwhelming signs of majority support for Biden/Harris. And I do emphasize Harris, who b...

Re: Politics
I follow multiple polling sites/political strategists and at this point the states of MO & KS will most likely go for the Orange Man. That being said, the metro counties/cities in each state, especially KC & STL will vote blue. Presuming Biden wins (please!) our House Representatives will be our bri...

Re: Fixing the KC Zoo (ongoing)
That’s why a season pass will continue to be the best option, not just for economic sake but also for multiple experiences. The new aquarium is planned to have more than few fish tanks and will include other species associated with the ocean, like sea otters. That will help to provide the increase i...

Re: Fixing the KC Zoo (ongoing)
This will be a good addition to the zoo as it will provide a strong draw for cold weather visits. Zoo revenue is much lower in the cold weather months. The operating costs will probably be quite expensive so hopefully the economic study made this project viable. That being said, there are still majo...

I don’t think mangling words, rambling into nonsensical unrelated topics and taking “executive time” till noon each day to watch Fox News and tweet about conspiracy theories shows much sharpness. His inability to grasp written intelligence reports and embrace of disproven conspiracy theories really ...

Re: Politics
Biden has been around a long time and is no political dummy. What some perceive as senility is his method of combating a lifelong stutter. Picking Kamala Harris is a very well calculated move that solidifies support in key voting groups, especially suburban women, who have significantly turned to th...

Re: Generic ongoing KCATA thread
I didn’t necessarily say we should fund their roads, we need major reconstruction here. However, I was making the point that from a geopolitical standpoint, we’re losing influence around the developing world to China, which could result in a continuation of our downward spiral in world stature in th...

Re: Generic ongoing KCATA thread
Can you be specific about which country you’re referring to? When I drove in Britain there were no tolls on the equivalents of our interstate and the two-lane highways were as good as our two lane roads, depending on their type (major link vs. local link). In Italy I didn’t drive but I think I remem...
