Re: Layoffs at The Star

I'm pretty sure that the star has the right to change home delivery subscriptions to digital with notice. It's just a matter of time. A lot of the best sports journalists have gone to the athletic or independent, Kevin does his own thing at cityscene. I guess people will depend on the local new netw...

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!

That it is a public good. But that's about the extent of my understanding. An airport seems lesser extent than other infrastructure. Seems to be operated almost privately now. My greatest fear would be preferential treatment given to 1 big carrier. However, that’s pretty much how it works now. Othe...

Deciding to rent a place next to Power and Light with shitty noise insulation seems like a problem for you and your landlord.

Re: What is the best KCRag/Skyscrapers username of all time?

One time, many years ago, bahua did an April fools joke that replaced the forum with an old style anonymous scrolling chat.

People got *mean*. It was very entertaining to see what everyone said about other people when they were anonymous though.

Thankfully people are more behaved today.

Re: Misc Crossroads News

Just let it naturally evolve. We don't need to get rid of art or food or anything. If the people responsible for organizing the supporting infrastructure need more money, they should let us know so we can come up with finding solutions.

Re: Misc Crossroads News

i still think pedestrianizing a street through the plaza Spanish style would be a big help. The same with the cap if it's ever done. Pave over the road and put up umbrellas and chairs and landscaping. Give people a daily place where they can go and be outside and listen to music and drink and eat wi...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

I guess what I'm saying is I don't want it to be organized. Don't get me wrong, I know a lot of people put in a lot of free time to make it happen. But Kansas City lacks much of a downtown street culture and it's one thing I miss from a lot of cities I've lived it. Being able to just meet your frien...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

Maybe it's time to let First Friday be what it is and have a second monthly event that is more gallery centric. Events evolve, FF is a great event I wouldn't want to see change. Start again. So who pays for and organizes that? Everyone needs to remember that the neighborhood structure isn't like We...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

Maybe the tension is more is this still an art gallery night or has it transformed into something more that we should just enjoy? How many people go to the plaza art fair just to walk around, have drinks, listen to music, and eat food? When people ask me a resource to guide them where to go for gal...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

This is maybe an unpopular opinion but even as an experienced FF goer I find it very hard to find out what galleries are doing what.. Agreed. It's effectively a block party, and I like it. I understand the neighborhood concerns. But I just don't like this idea that I think we're heading to in this ...

Re: Misc Crossroads News

I know this conversation keeps getting trashed because of racists, so please just go somewhere else if you want to be that person because I really want an answer. What's the general feeling in the crossroads? I'd really hate to see the event shut down early. I hope they don't change too much from th...

Re: P&L District: 14th & Main Site Proposal

Meh, I don't think any of that is true. I think most people here have no problem with Cordish. And I suspect most people here would be on the Cordish side of the recent affordable housing/use agreement argument. I think what people get pissy about is when we criticize one individual decision that th...

Crown center does these master plans on a fairly regular basis. I'm not going to take this too seriously until something is announced or reported on at least.

Re: P&L District: 14th & Main Site Proposal

I'm sure everyone enjoys your perspective. I know I do. And if you've been lurking long enough, you know the atmosphere here :) I don't think most people dislike Cordish. Just that any criticism of them tends to get corporate speak pushback on why it really makes sense and they're right. Whereas mos...
