Re: Status and future of the River Market area??

I’ve been looking into townhomes/rowhouses to buy and the one thing I dislike about the typical new construction is that their layouts are so boring- just one huge open room with two bedrooms upstairs. My current house is the same square footage as most i look at and it is just so much more interest...

Re: Waddell & Reed - 14th & Baltimore

“Frankly, I am appalled that Waddell & Reed is attempting to secure tax incentives from Kansas City for the purposes of moving their headquarters from Overland Park,” said Rick Perry, a former senior vice president. “I would caution the KC Council and others to be very careful in entering into ANY ...

Re: Waddell & Reed - 14th & Baltimore

The only modification I heard discussed was the abatement moved from 10 yrs 75% followed by 5 years 37.5% to 6 yrs.at 75% followed by 9 yrs at 37.5%. Fairly significant move. Apparently KCPS signed off on the deal at those levels.

So Lucas just voted to approve the Romanelli Shops IN WALDO as blighted so that they could form a CID.

Re: Waddell & Reed - 14th & Baltimore

So if the city ends up owning this property and leasing it back to W&R, does that mean they do not pay into the TDD?

Re: Wonderful Waldo

So all of the Northland voted against this (minus Fowler). If Waldo can't have blight, then the Northland certainly can't. Prepare for hypocrisy.

Re: Boulevardia - June 13-15, 2014

Given the amount of space that Boulevardia takes up in the West Bottoms, I wouldn't be surprised if it'll be in/around some combination of Union Station, Washington Square Park, and Crown Center. Yeah this makes sense. I guess there is an outside chance it’s down at Berkley Park or in Penn Valley/L...

Re: Boulevardia - June 13-15, 2014

Boulevardia is announcing their new location for next year. Based on the teaser video today it looks like it is somewhere along the streetcar line. My guess is RM.

Also, I wasn't sure where to discuss this, so maybe we want to rename the thread again to just 'Boulevardia'.

Re: Wonderful Waldo

And honestly, this is where Lucas' slipperyness comes in to play. On Twitter he said, that they did not reject incentives for the project, they only rejected the blight designation (he again said this on Twitter today). While technically true, this is a meaningless point since they no longer qualify...

Incentives request incoming, lol.
Followed by opposition from the West Plaza Neighborhood Association
I know this was a bit tongue in cheek, but I actually don't think there is opposition from the neighborhood on this project.

Re: Wonderful Waldo

This project was discussed at length on Twitter the other day between Q, probably people from this board, and I think even the developer chimed in.

For those that are interested, the initiating comment is here, but the conversation spirals in a number of directions between the respondents.

Re: Companies moving downtown

This building is also located on 14th street, which is a major connecting street between the convention complex/hotels and the entertainment complex. People walk this route all the time during major events. It really should be a premier street.
