Re: Oak Park Mall Update
The lady at Sarausky who commented on the rumor hinted that Microsoft, Lego, coach, White House Black Market, Abercrombie, Hollister, and lush are looking for a way out. Lush just moved into a new spot that's 3-4x bigger than their previous one fairly recent (2 years ago?). I'd be surprised if they...

Re: Lamp Post District - Mission, KS
I've never understood why Mission didn't do more to develop their downtown with more residential, there's a lot of missed/wasted opportunity there now. Yeah, as a resident, I'd love nothing more than to see some density development here. The current mayor and a good chunk of the council are certain...

I can't imagine Dillard's holding on to both north and south spaces much longer. They have very few doubleheader operations left anywhere in the country. A lot of the brands that are disappearing from the women’s store we pulled out of independence years ago and Zona Rosa a couple years after it op...

Re: Bannister Mall/Cerner
With the slow down of new single family home developments across metro, this is an opportunity for existing homes/neighborhoods to upgrade as the housing market tightens. The Cerner mistake has happened and poorly executed. SKC still needs to make the most of it. The glaring problem is still the th...

Swarovski closed without having a sale, as did Abercrombie kids, and lady footlocker. https://www.kansascity.com/opinion/editorials/article239927703.html How “unique” of them. It’s almost as if I just wanted access to tax money to hop the state line. I imagine that the 10 story parking garage is their attempt to save face with their suburbanite employees who are not happy about the i...

I really hate bluhawk and everything it stands for, but thanks for the photo. Crane looks cool I mean like it or not homes are being built south of BVSW and a lot are being built near west. It might not be long before this area has the population to support it, something the Prairie Fire/Corbin Par...

Re: Prairie Village
I talked to an assistant manager at the store and PV has wanted the store gone for ages. Macy's had started renovating part of the store (they only got to part of the 3rd floor and the customer service area), but it was implied that they were not being allowed to stay. Several years ago when the sho...

Are there any pre-construction design renderings or early publicity photos of crown center out there? I swear I saw some early designs on here once, but I can’t find them.

Re: Downtown Overland Park
No one I know my age has any interest in moving to downtown OP or Lenexa City Center. Rent is pricy, the building exteriors are ugly and boring, and there's still nothing to do after 6:00pm. Next! The look is subjective and for all we know, everyone you know your age is 3 other people. Compared to ...

Re: Plaza move-ins (ongoing)
Does anyone know if forever 21 is closing on the plaza or are they still negotiating the lease rates? I’ve been told that’s the location targeted for the largest CVS in the city. As we know, The Country Plaza desperately needs a drug store! Is that site big enough for an Urban Target? Target hasn't...

Re: Poll: Does the Plaza need a drastic change, some change or on the right path?
If free bus turns out to be a permanent metro wide service, the Plaza could probably lose some parking - as well as with free streetcar going by in 5 years or so. But for the most part, there would need to be a good amount of garage space for what is a regional draw and there's quite a bit. Plaza o...

Re: Downtown Overland Park
I really think these kind of projects that are going to kill any kind of growth in urban KC if they keep building apartments like this in the burbs. I think Young Professionals will choose these types of locations in OP/Lenexa/North KC and bypass the urban core completely especially if rents are ab...

Only a small section east of I-35 is doing well though. You high quite a bit of mostly vacant and decaying 70s-early 90's blight before hitting that nice stretch with Kohl's, Menards, and Academy.

All this while retail on 135th/Santa Fe has never been able to establish itself. That includes Martin City, Olathe, Leawood, and OP that all have spotty half failing developments.
