Sometimes things happen without generating a tweet or news article.
I'm well aware of that, but I'm not sure how that applies to what I'm saying? Can you elaborate a little bit? I understand there's likely limitations to what you can say.

Re: OFFICIAL - Strata (H&R Block's 2nd Tower)

Lucas talks out both sides of his mouth on most things, it's kind of his brand. I wouldn't put a lot of stock in that quote, given that it was to the star. Anyone not in a coma knows the star has a hard-on for hating any downtown incentives. Gotta keep them as a sympathetic friend rather than an adv...

Re: Pursuing FREE City-Wide Bus

I thought at one point free buses in the urban core was going to be one of the carrots dangled (along with regional BRT routes) for regional transit funding? What happened to that? I'm all for eliminating fares in the core, but it seems like it could be used more strategically to get other transit n...

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!

Most of the airports I’ve been at with crosswalks have some sort of signal at at least one intersection, either HAWK; traditional red-green; or a human crossing guard.

I would hope edgemoor would have the foresight to install a signal on at least the lower level, but who knows.

They're referring to it as " iconic building would consist of a 10-story, 320,000 square feet – including 270,000 square feet of office/hotel and 50,000 square feet of retail. It would also include 1,300 below-grade parking spaces." https://www.copaken-brooks.com/our-properties/13th-grand/ In the vi...

Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project

Gimmicky doesn’t equal bad. I think BarK is a cool space. They’re just not bringing anything to the table other than an aesthetic. Aesthetic discussions end up being dead end echo chambers of personal preference It’d be nice if we could get back more to a constructive discussion of massing, density,...

Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project

Shipping container buildings at this point are a gimmick/aesthetic more than a practical building solution. They're not economically beneficial in most cases (for a variety of reasons including building code) and they're not even the most sustainable way of doing construction.

Can we let it go?

A larger (40') bus cannot navigate the inner ring of the terminals. That's one reason why RideKC buses and rental car shuttles are relegated to the outer ring.
Why can't they navigate the inner ring? Vertical clearance? Traffic level?

Re: OFFICIAL: Port Authority Riverfront Project

Is there no vertical limit on any of sewer easement? I've had projects where a garage can be built over a sewer easement, it just requires the first floor to have an exceptionally high clearance (think it was 20'-0"?) and the ground surface needs to be asphalt or another easily replaced material. Ea...

As soon as the rest of that decking gets put down, this thing is really going to take off. Loving what it's already done for the block!

Re: 1532 Grand

Renderings look good, but will the reality? Are they going to match the brick with real mortar set individual bricks or just use more of that cheap looking faux brick panels? Real brick adds a substantial amount of weight to the building. Given it's a vertical addition, loads are a critical conside...

Looking at the larger images, it would appear 1/2 - 2/3 of the first floor is minimally screened parking. Hope that gets pushed back on by the neighborhood.

Re: Old KCPS HQ - 12th & McGee

From that video, it appears Copaken wants to close McGee from 12th to 13th streets, and create a superblock. That definitely seems to be the case. I’d be receptive to making that block of McGee pedestrian only, but having the whole thing raised up like that is a no-go. By doing that they’ve effecti...

Re: Three Light

Developing surface lots should be higher priority. I mean, sure, but if this block got developed, I don't think they need to preserve the parking garage. The issue with the western building is it doesn’t really excel at either of its uses. The parking garage is too compact and the retail is too sho...

are either eataly or a food hall really "entertainment" tenants though?
I wouldn't classify them that way, but developers et al play pretty fast and loose with use categories.

The guy claims the Westport building, which is less than 10 years old, had challenges “due to the building’s age”

Really tells me all I need to know about how honest he’s being.

That isn't an entrance, it's a blank wall with fire exit. That could never be anything because it's the backside of the Coterie Theater. Unless the theater is moved somewhere else and an entrance and something is constructed there. https://i.imgur.com/zk6GdHY.png Buddy I've used that entrance more ...

Unless there is more space that I'm not aware, isn't MTH Theater using all of that space? I’m talking about the old American Heartland Theater space above where halls is now. You’re talking about MTH on the same floor as halls, which used to be the cinema. Here’s an article from when Heartland clos...
