No idea what their names are, but the two folks who have been working both times I stopped in appear to be Chinese. The dude definitely takes your order in hanzi or something close enough I can't tell the difference.
Ok, it's not them. The previous couple was definitely south-central-Asian.

Re: Town Pavilion food court

I just noticed that place a couple of days ago as I was heading to an appointment across the street. It sounded good and I was starving and wanted to go in, but unfortunately I was there for a dentist appointment and couldn't eat for 2 hours afterward. I was always fond of the couple that ran it whe...

Re: medical marijuana

illinois legalized full recreational use and sale, including the metro east of st. louis. not sure how that will influence missouri, yet. Since anything opening in the east suburbs of St. Louis will be making most of their fortune off Missouri residents (I jest, of course, nobody will do that becau...

Re: The Future of Crown Center

I saw this posted on Reddit. I've been coming a different way to work this week so haven't seen whatever this person is talking about yet myself, but I thought maybe somebody here might know: What are they doing to the tensegrity at 27th and main? It's my favorite piece of public art in KC. I hope t...

Kaldi closing per sign on the door. This is disappointing. A solid 7 day a week place for quality coffee and people watching.
Seriously? I had just finally visited them for the first time a few weeks ago and liked them enough to add them into my rotation.

Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity

When's that place supposed to open? They have had the roof top sign covered forever...who knows :-k I keep coming across posts from people just noticing that for the first time, thinking it's something new, and thinking that the city was embarrassed to "just now" find out about their building and m...

Re: Westport

I was more comparing the Sarpinos in Westport with what I had out south at Sarpinos (OP or Leawood). The quality was better out South. I just assume it's harder to staff a place in the middle of the city that's open 'til 4a or whatever. They definitely fill a need - just not for me. It's definitely...

Re: Liberty Memorial Musuem and Penn Valley Park

With all the work they did to get it spruced up for the WW1 centennial, I'm surprised it looks this bad already. Though I can honestly say that it's been a very long time since I have noticed any of the fountains actually running.

Anyone have any updates on this project? Last I had seen it still looked like a giant dirt pit.
There are apartments currently under construction, but that's the only thing I've noticed recently.

If I was a young person new to the city Northtowne would be the place I would live. It's close to downtown, easy access to Kansas and there is tons of walkability ... It actually has pretty bad access to Kansas compared to downtown. At least for places people tend to go to. ... It’s very easy to ge...

As long as they don't screw up their Sunday brunch and they still serve scallops and steaks at our annual company holiday party, I don't care how they position themselves.

Scooterj, you posted this 14 years ago: Finding evergreen forests in eastern Douglas county is one of the ecosystem finds in the KC area that surprised me the most. . Do you remember where that was? Thanks. Oh, man... and what I was talking about was something I saw several years even before that. ...

Re: Fairfax District - changed from MO to KS in the 1800s

Before 1836 the Platte Purchase area was part of the Missouri Territory. Before Kansas was a state (1861), or even a territory (1854) the area now know as Kansas was part of the Missouri Territory. Platte was never in Kansas in any sense of the word. My bad.   Kansas wasn't even a territory at that...
