Perhaps...this 5 minute move-around makes more sense:
Single-family seems wasteful. Add a few more townhomes and parkland rather than more fenced-in yards.

What are the Boundaries of "Northeast Johnson County"?

I have seen many raggers reference discrepancies of what they think of as "NE JoCo". What are the west and south boundaries in your mind? West: Roe? Nall? Metcalf? Antioch? Quivira? I-35? I-435? South: 75th St? 87th St? 95th St? I-435? College Blvd? 119th St? For me, it is Metcalf(west) (but could s...

A little down the road, at 43rd & Rainbow, I saw the McDonald's has been torn down. I know nothing, but I assume they are building a new McDonald's.

Re: 159th Street next Retail area

I wonder if everyone who owns property in JoCo inside 435 realizes just how upset they should be with developments like this? We NEJoCo'ers know it and love it. These hinterland developments add more retail sales tax to keep our property taxes lower. At some point, when these hinterland projects ge...

Re: Westport's fate post-P&L

^What's going in a few doors down, next to Which Wich? Major overhaul of exterior. I am guessing some flashing/wall repair, but I am not for sure. I have not heard about a new tenant in the space. ...why would they make a repair like this if the high-rise housing proposal shown a few pages back was...

Re: Real Estate Listings of Interest (Metrowide)

I thought this social media + real estate page is interesting. It allows buyers to express interest in a house not for sale or sellers to put a house "out there" before they actually list it for sale. This is a map of people expressing interest. Not much in the 'burbs or east of Troost (no surprise)...

Ok. What style is it?
As urban as you can get without a parking structure. No visible parking from Westport Road makes it a good contributor to the corridor.

Re: Westport's fate post-P&L

I think this update will make that area of Westport better and turn a dated, 1980s suburban style hotel into something modern, clean and new. suburban style? For me, the building was a nice contributor to Westport. It is architecturally forgettable, but not bad. That is Westport....a bunch of bland...

Re: Westport's fate post-P&L

The Q is changing color... This reminds me a bit of the 1960s when we covered up all those icky 50 year old buildings only to cherish them later and repair the damage caused during the earlier coverup. In 2030, they will strip this building back down and try to make it look like it did before. I am ...

Re: Nelson Atkins - Moving Forward

Here is a comparison of the opportunity to turn those historic homes into a hotel, using the MASS MoCA concept. Connect the four homes together in a discreet and beautiful way and they preserve the great homes while getting their hotel across the street. In many respects, the NAMA opportunity is far...

Re: Nelson Atkins - Moving Forward

Maybe the historic houses could become the hotel. Sort of like a B&B? Expensive hotel with actual art in the rooms?? We stayed at Porches Inn next to MASS MoCA in N. Adams, MA several years back. (An awesome stay, by the way.) The museum bought these old run-down houses, merged the porches together...

Re: Downtown and Tactical Urbanism

Not downtown, but in Westport: I have been dying to calm Mill Street from its current car sewer design. I want to turn the stop light at Westport Road into a 4-way stop sign. Remove the center turn lane. Add parallel parking on both sides. That is just my quick fix. I also want to move the curb inbo...

This would connect all of the disconnects that make this area such a wasteland. http://i28.photobucke...
