Re: Next Mayor 2019

according to @kcmikemahoney, bunch, o'neill, and robinson are boycotting today's T+I meeting until lucas removes loar from the committee chair post. i never understood why loar was the chair of that even before she came out as anti-pedestrian and racist. now i extra don't understand it. She's the c...

Re: New Broadway Bridge

I like a pretty bridge as much as the next person, but what has the aesthetically pleasing Bond Bridge done to enhance downtown, the riverfront, or North Kansas City that a boring girder bridge wouldn't have also accomplished? To me, landmark bridges are like tall buildings in the skyline. They loo...

Re: New Broadway Bridge

I would have to imagine that if the piers don't line up the Port Athority will kill the idea of keeping the old bridge. Would make navigation a issue. Perhaps, but they also seem to be one of the cheapest organizations out there. Selling the reduced cost of not having to implode the old bridge migh...

Re: New Broadway Bridge

I see this as a huge improvement for recreation downtown. Making it have an interesting topside isn't going to make it more recreation friendly. So I guess I don't understand the rant. Well, I disagree with that. Sure, it will be an improvement, but making the bridge itself a destination and a must...

Re: New Broadway Bridge

Don't know if this is new or not, but BizJournal says this is the preferred route of the bridge. Looks like it may require demolition of some structures. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50226771582_cfb17ba5de_h.jpg Quote from the article... The assessment also crystallized a preferred new bridg...

Not surprising but, the Facebook group for recalling Mayor Lucas continues to be a cesspool of racism and white grievance politics. The Pitch has a decent write up: https://www.thepitchkc.com/online-campaign-to-recall-mayor-lucas-fueled-by-dogwhistle-racism-conspiracy-theories/ I haven't looked at ...

Haven't heard a peep. I suspect the incentive request fell on deaf ears.

The map with parcel 8, it's on top of part of the park the current parcel at that spot is much smaller. I see what you are saying. That area is the remains of the original riverfront road. Not technically park space, and not used for anything but it has been left to grow wild for so long that I can...

Re: Power and Light District Official Tenant List

I'm surprised some big bank (like Chase) hasn't swooped in and bought the former Federal Reserve Bank building to stake their flag in the market. Given the right offer, and the endless delays in renovating the building, they could probably have gotten the developer to sell, or convert their plan to...
