Re: Liberty Parkway

They seem not to be.  I drive it all the time, and it's nice to not have the super angry drivers breathing down my neck on Liberty drive anymore.  This has to be the only town anywhere where you can get flipped off and tailgated by soccer moms while going five over in a residential.  Those people no...

Re: New stores in Liberty area...

I know I'm late with this, but it (Starbucks) seems to have done away with the small coffee shop in the Price Chopper mall area.  BTW - The Hallmarks gone as well.  Radio Shack's old building became a mattress store, and that's gone too.  Looking kind of bare over there... I would be worried if I wa...

Re: New stores in Liberty area...

I hadn't even noticed it yet.... I dont know what they will do with the leveling, but I would take and enclose the creek that runs through there with some steel or concrete pipes, and then level out the hill right over the entire creek...hell, they could even use the creek to run the sewers for all...

Re: Antioch Center redesign

http://redbrokerage.com/properties/antioch/siteplan.html From the Red Brokerage Site. Wow.  There's so MUCH PARKING.  It's almost fetish-level.  I think I'll buy another car and leave it there just because I can park!  We must all park!  We can have Chiefs game tailgate parties without the annoying...

Re: New stores in Liberty area...

Well, as of this morning, the Church and other outbuildings behind Crosley are now a pile of cinderblocks.  I've driven by it standing empty for some time, wished I'd gone in to see it.  Doors were wide open for weeks.  Oh well, never mind that now. Man, they take down these cinder-block buildings q...

Re: Liberty gets metro's first Sears Essentials store

Anyone see the Liberty Tribune article?  The Kmart employees are claiming huge forced salary cuts.  One woman was quitting after 30 years (30 years at Kmart?).

Not very complementary.

Re: Liberty Parkway

Dare I ask...what's going on with this thing?

It's been very quiet.  Now, when driving down Liberty drive, you're still rerouted and pass through at least two new stop signs to get to 35.  So, when I drive this route, I've still got two additional stops.

Any news on a new target date?

Re: OFFICIAL - Antioch Crossing

Thanks for posting this Thrillceker!  I've been wondering when something was gonna happen.  I must admit I was afraid it would fall into total disuse, with no new tenants coming in but no work happening either.  I go to Scimeca's and that Sears all the time, and I wasn't seeing anything happening. O...

Re: East Bottoms

Yes, I'm a history nerd, but I'll make it quick... The Heim's brewery was down there.  If you go down Chestnut from Independence avenue you'll pretty much be able to identify most of the brewery on either side as you hit the bottoms. Back when the Electric park was open, they piped beer directly fro...

Re: KC in TV and Movies

Kinda surprised no one's mentioned the Stephen King connection yet...although it's not really Kansas City, it is Liberty, which pretty much counts because we're all familiar with it (or live in it). "Sometimes they come back" was shot in Liberty, Excelsior Springs, and around the area.  In...

Re: Liberty gets metro's first Sears Essentials store

The ford shortcut is the shiznit for getting from 152 to 291 during slow traffic.  ...unless you're a bus...  (OK OK, reaaaaallly bad taste, sorry) By the way, did anything ever happen with that?  As far as I know, we still have busses flying down that hill just like before.  I did read the govern...

Re: KC Auto Show - March 9-12

Dang.  No new Wrangler.  We seem to be a little bit low on the ratings to get the really hot stuff.  I thought after the Chicago show was over we might get that one.  I love this show anyway, though.  They need to have a "no-kids" day (or I need to take Friday off work, I guess).  Seems th...

Re: Gangs and gang-related crime in Kansas City

Speaking of the cliff drive area, you must admit the taggers have guts (or a deathwish).  Of course, I'm afraid of heights... I drove down Chestnut all last summer while the Paseo bridge was closed so I could take the back way over to Cheoteau to go north.  I couldn't believe someone had tagged the ...

Re: New stores in Liberty area...

Hey all, I was at Chipotle yet again this weekend (I know, it's weight watchers time for me) and they've put down another concrete pad between that building and the trees to the west.  Looks small-restaraunt-sized, but my perception 'ain't that good.  Does anyone know what's going in there?  They we...

Re: Liberty gets metro's first Sears Essentials store

I just hope that it actually does something for that shopping center as a whole.  It would be great to see that place become viable again rather than doing the "in" thing by letting it rot in favor of dozing down some more trees and breaking ground on another new shopping center.  A new...

Re: Liberty gets metro's first Sears Essentials store

The Star article this morning indicated that Sears was going to experiment with the strategy of saturating the Sears Grand brand in a single market to see if it catches on better that way as opposed to the traditional method of rolling out one initial store per metro.  This is why KC is getting 6 ...

Re: New stores in Liberty area...

I think that you're belief that the Chipotle at Shoal Creek is smaller than the one on Barry may be an optical illusion.  I'd say they are pretty close to the same size.  However, that seems kind of silly when there should have been no doubt that the one in Shoal Creek would have a great deal mor...

Re: Liberty gets metro's first Sears Essentials store

Ultimate Electronics, once much ballyhooed now defunct. Yea what was up with that?  I took the long way one day from the mall across to Barry and I29, and in the middle of a vacant field, "poof" there it was.  A UE store with a huge building.  I don't think it even made it the year.  I tr...
