Re: KC in TV and Movies

A couple overhead shots of downtown KC and beyond in the new Netflix movie American Hangman. Also accompanied by several other shots of Not Kansas City to represent whatever fictional city the movie is supposed to take place in. They seem to go out of their way to keep location references very gener...

Need to get to the newer south Plaza location before summer is over too.
The south Plaza location is much smaller, less vibrant, and less dynamic than the crossroads location. I greatly prefer the crossroads spot.

A great movie! It was a full house at Screenland last night. For those not able to make it, put this one on your list and keep an eye out for the next opportunity to see it.

Re: Freshwater - Midtown

A group of us went for dinner Saturday. It was the first time for most of us, but one couple had been prior to the wreck. In short, the food is excellent. We did the tasting menu with wine pairings and it was totally worth it. There were no disappointments in the 10+ courses. Had a quick drink at th...

I would guess the College & Metcalf location will take over the Le Peep space. They just shut down last Sunday.

"Historic" downtown living materials

I was doing flood cleanup in the basement this week and came across marketing materials that I had collected for many urban core condo and loft developments. Maybe 20-25 projects from the early- to mid-2000s. Some projects were built and some never materialized. Some very slick marketing folders and...

Re: American Royal leaders propose tearing down Kemper

Was the move in venue and dates worth it? Seems like it was low key again. Are you talking about the BBQ? I think the move to Labor Day weekend was a big mistake. It seemed the crowd Friday night was about half what it was last year. Either people were out of town, or there was too much else going ...

Re: P&L District: 13th & Walnut Site Proposal

So does the county line name come from the original Okey Joes being on the Wyandotte county line in Kansas? Kind of a weird naming plan that guy has. Yes, according to the BizJournal article . The name "County Line" is a nod to Joe's Kansas City's roots in Kansas City, Kan., where its first area lo...

Re: OFFICIAL - Corrigan Building

The food is pretty good. There is an Asian influence to most of the dishes. Prices for the small plates are around $8-$25. There are two bigger plates - a black cod for $40 and a Wagyu ribeye for $65, IIRC. Corvino does have a bar menu. I think it is available after 10pm. My wife says the hamburger ...
