Re: OFFICIAL - City Club Apartments (former Midwest Hotel)

I'm staying at CityClub (via Airbnb) while our bathroom is being remodeled. I think about six units are available this way -- a mix of studios, 1BR, and 2BR. I'm not sure I could live with the barrage of patterns in the common spaces, but I'm sure it appeals to someone. Really nice to have a direct ...

Re: No More One-Way Streets in Downtown...

It really needs a nudge from the Downtown Council. But I fear with NFL Draft and World Cup coming they'll hesitate to do anything that might be perceived as impacting traffic.

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar

Speaking of Crossroads and foot traffic -- is First Fridays still happening tomorrow? I can't find the calendar for whether they're doing it or not. So if someone knows... It happens every month, without fail. Some months are bigger than others, of course. https://kccrossroads.org/this-first-friday/

Re: No More One-Way Streets in Downtown...

central avenue in the loop will be converted to two-way traffic in the spring. Dave, it’s been a while on this thread, but any chance this idea can be revived? Or a blanket revision of One ways downtown to Two way? This seems like an important endeavor for traffic flow that would come from a downto...

Re: 2023 KCMO Election

Based on who's running and which races are crowded, I can see the 4th and 6th In-District races advancing to runoffs, same with the At-Large races in Districts 2, 4 and 5. We don't have runoffs, just nonpartisan primaries. You don't a majority to advance. I believe all candidates will appear on the...

Re: OFFICIAL - Pennway Point

I worry about the pedestrian experience between three big family attractions -- Pennway Point, Union Station, and Crown Center.

Pershing needs a road diet, at minimum, and dramatically improved pedestrian crossings.

No more skywalks or tubes.

Re: Urban Living Pet Peeves

I’m not sure why the solution everyone jumps to is arresting people after these things happen, and not, say, redesigning the roads to discourage these things. It’s not just street races and donuts, people take dangerous U turns in the middle of broadway or grand all the time, because these streets ...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Quick reminder that an East Village (or North Loop) stadium would be inside the existing streetcar district. While the stadium itself wouldn't be subject to assessment if it's owned by the County, it will generate a lot of sales tax revenue and any adjacent development would be subject to assessment...

Re: OFFICIAL - Main Street Streetcar Extension

Is the west side of Main, adjacent Liberty Memorial getting a wider sidewalk? I noticed a new curb between the street and the streetcar tracks. There is still asphalt between the tracks and the west sidewalk, but no way to park a car there. The sidewalk is very narrow as it is. Hope they are planni...

It is RIDICULOUS that they can't seem to crack down on this. Such a quality of life issue, on top of everything else we're dealing with in the city.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium

Now that this is announced, can this still get done by 2026? Seems like if it's gonna be a 28k cookie cutter like this is could easily get done by then. Seems like the airport timeline might indicate if that's possible. East Village is primarily controlled by the city and its master developer and I...

Re: Capping the Loop

Contingent on a stadium design that fits the mold of the district, I can't pass up the option of the Royals playing in the Crossroads if the Royals are willing to pay to fill out the rest of the South Loop Cap a full 7 blocks. It's just too good. If we did that, and moved the Chiefs in to the East ...

As I've noted elsewhere, Copaken's residential record in the Crossroads is strong.
