Re: 1822 Main Redevlopment
From our property manager: The 1818 Main developer has advised that the Streetcar Authority is requiring them to finish demolishing the old building during overnight hours, after streetcar operations have ended for the day. They plan to do this late Monday night (April 22) into Tuesday morning (Apri...

A group of Crossroads people toured the building last week.KCPowercat wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 11:38 am The bartender was at Mean Mule. Supposedly got "pulled into a meeting" about it. seems pretty unreliable but they sounded confident so thought I'd share.

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
But only a small amount of people voted no because of the location or because they cared to save this area of the crossroads. You have exit polls to share? Or is this anecdote or from Sean Smith's unreliable opt-in internet form? Seriously, tell the team to do their homework and bring data. We're n...

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
The development history of the Crossroads tells another story. Lots of adaptive reuse. (Relatively) lots of new multifamily construction. Hot office submarket (pre-COVID). Best restaurants in the city. One of the country's top hotels (which is adaptive reuse). Lively brewery/distillery scene. Argua...

Re: Generic ongoing KCATA thread
Haven't worked there in two years, so no idea what the latest conversation is but the city had interest in doing something with the site and it was offered in tandem with the school. No reason to think the agency's position has changed much, but they would need funding to acquire and build at a new ...

You can transfer the federal interest to another site. I was part of the team that planned these improvements. Not an impediment!

Re: Downtown Baseball Stadium
I’m not opposed to East Village. I’d like for the stadium to go there. I’ve said for a while now, but the issues with it make me think it’ll be a heavier lift than the Crossroads site. If the team, and city, can get something done, then do it. Except EC literally failed a public vote. Not sure how ...

Re: Jackson County Regional Rail Plan
KCS plans to upgrade their Missouri infrastructure including instances of double tracking. Believe this includes KC area. I know the previous commuter plan wanted to use a few KCS lines so this could be good news. You mean CPKC? I don’t know how decisions are made at the new entity but I would not ...

Rest assured galleries are still very much part of the event. The crowds are larger and interested in many of the things that simply didn't exist when FF started (breweries, distilleries, food trucks), but the galleries are still exhibiting -- east and west -- and debuting new works tied to the even...

Really excited for the old Kenton spot since it will include a restaurant and pocket park. Expect the city to get rid of the unwarranted traffic signal at the intersection. Will totally transform that corner.

Re: Jackson County Regional Rail Plan
Amtrak is replacing their P42 locomotives and coach cars with the same ones that Missouri bought. The old units will be scrapped/sold. While old, the last time Amtrak upgraded their equipment many units were picked up by commuter railroads for dirt cheap. Could be an opportunity for KCATA to buy co...

The Royals just terminated their agreement with the Crossroads. Good. The CCA dicked around and it SHOULD cost them this generational opportunity, along with the sweetheart agreement. The CCA never endorsing and only agreeing on THE DAY OF the vote is absurd. Maybe they can get Chartreuse to sponso...
