The current switch at Union Station will be replaced with a new one in the Pershing intersection. That US switch is a piece of crap that can hobble the entire system when it fails. Value engineering!

Is that an indication that ebikes are getting higher ridership than pedal only bikes? Or a plan to evenly balance the type of bikes available?
It's an indication that we're moving off the b-cycle platform entirely. Existing pedal bikes won't be converted to electric.

Tour of the renovation: https://www.bizjournals.com/kansascity/news/2019/11/17/lightwell-building-renovation-hard-hat-photo-tour.html Some newish (?) tidbits: The new skylight will be frameless. Country Club Bank will move to the SE corner of the 2nd floor. A wooden stair used to connect to the top ...

Calvert's at Truman and Main sold earlier this year. Anyone heard any rumblings about what's going to replace it?

Retrofits of B-cycle devices to Drop are also on the way. They'd still be a pedal bike, but they'd become dockless and usable on the Drop platform.

Also, pedal Drop bikes launched in Johnson County parks this month.

Re: Pursuing FREE City-Wide Bus

I thought at one point free buses in the urban core was going to be one of the carrots dangled (along with regional BRT routes) for regional transit funding? What happened to that? I'm all for eliminating fares in the core, but it seems like it could be used more strategically to get other transit ...

I suggested to Jonathan Justice years ago about targeting Xroads with a vision for an Xroads James Beard District but maybe his investor lived closer to 50th/Main and wanted it to be there. Hope he can come up with a new concept and find an investor. I do think he would do consistently well in Xroa...

Re: Black leaders seek to rename Paseo to MLK Blvd

But you don't have to piss off large numbers of residents to do it. You find a compromise. No one can quantify how many are pissed off. Tuesday's election will be the only acceptable measure, since no one is polling Question 5. It's entirely possible that those who choose Paseo over MLK are biased ...
