Re: Generic ongoing KCATA thread

KCATA sold 8-10 of the MAX busses to Lubbock, TX. What's the story on that?

Re: Attention regional businesses

Cerner targets foreigners to underpay and others to burn out while they are still on their cheap, first job out of college salary. They aren't looking to retain employees long term which would make being in a more desirable neighborhood more important.

Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity

That picture could be from 8 months ago could be from 3 years ago.... No it couldn't, it was still empty then. I worked for the previous owner of the space, they had problems selling the space for years and didn't stop occupying the building until around four years ago. it has been 3 years! You can...

1010 Main isn't an address that I'm aware of? Good to see they found a new location.
I think it's the old AMC building. I think the new owners are calling it 10 main or 1010 main or something like that.

Re: OFFICIAL - Lightwell (formerly City Center Square)

Target + USDA + renovations seems like a winner to me! Seems the foodcourt has officially kicked everyone out. The mexican place will be the last to close and is moving to 1010 main I heard. If you take the seating area, the restaurants, and their backrooms, etc I wonder how many square feet that a...

Re: Royals at TD Ameritrade

TD Ameritrade is kind of uniquely suited to host something like this. What other stadiums (stadia?) other than that one are over 10K and can fit a baseball field. I'm not sure you can wedge a baseball field into a Soccer-specific stadium like CMP. I don't even think Doubleday Field in Cooperstown s...

Re: NHL OR NBA, let the message board decide!!

Wish the Mavericks were the farm club for the Blues instead of the Flames. That would have added to the fun. I wish the Mavericks would get new owners. Since the Hunts bought the team, attendance has been dropping and they quit advertising the team. I haven't seen a bus ad, heard a radio ad, etc si...

Re: City Center Square for sale

The Chinese place has 3 years left on their lease and they have said they refuse to move even though the new owners are trying to force them out by taking all the seating away and generally trying to bully them out of business. Good! I eat there at least once per week and will continue to do to help...

Re: 2019 Mayor/Council Elections

I tweeted at both mayor candidates asking if they would support modern urban planning policies such as removing all parking minimums and eliminating minimum residential lot sizes. Lucas liked my tweet but didn't respond. Hopefully our next mayor will help us get away from 1960s era urban planning th...

Re: KC metro growth and migration stats

Losing Pro Teams might be the most major impact of no longer being a Top 30 metro but there will probably be many other impacts too, like when services rollout something to the top 30 markets, etc. I'm in the camp that no strong university will continue to be a major factor for comparably slower gr...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

I was in LA this week and noticed that their center running light rail allows for left turns. It's possible, but alas KC couldn't wrap their heads around it. I tried. Can you try a little harder before construction? seriously, if we don't go with center running, we are going to regret it for 50 yea...

Re: Hyperloop between KC and STL

people keep overlooking the fact that freight is what will make the hyperloop feasible. In our age of exploding internet shopping with people expecting same day/next day deliveries, connecting KC, STL and Chicago is a good spine for their network as they are the top 3 freight rail hubs in the US and...

Re: Streetcar to the riverfront

They're idiots if they turn this down. The worst casino and the only one without a hotel. So close to downtown, yet might as well be in Riverside due to the lack of connectivity. To be fair, if people use their parking lots as a park and ride and parking becomes full and it becomes a hassle to try ...

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC

How many of these decisions are at this phase??? Should curb running keep the existing six lane configuration with part-time bus lanes becoming the track lane or is it better to move to a four lane setup and add all day curb parking? How do you account for places like 4110 Main which is one big cur...

Re: Heart of America Rapid Transit

What a terrible master plan. When will people understand that there is pretty much ZERO justification for any sort of fixed rail to KCI Airport, let alone heavy rail. Realize that rail doesn't NEED to have justification by itself. Rail to the airport is a great plan when you take away the need for ...

Re: Affordable Housing

The entire east side is affordable. We should make it more desirable rather than abandoning huge swaths of the city only to build more sprawl and government subsidized housing when its not needed.
